At Pizza By Alex, we do one thing, and we do it right. We have been proudly serving our personal sized greek-style pizza since 1960.

Story

Pizza By Alex was founded February 18, 1960 by Alex Mantis and one employee. Within a few years, we outgrew our old facilities and moved up the street to our present location at 93 Alfred Street in Biddeford, Maine. Pizza By Alex has become one of the finest and largest pizza houses in New England. Our menu consists of one item, "Pizza", which is made daily on the premises using only choice ingredients. Satisfied local customers along with summer visitors to Maine from as far away as California, Texas, and Canada claim its the best pizza they have eaten anywhere. The success of Pizza By Alex is due to many factors including fine service, courteous employees, but above all, excellent pizza because there is no substitute for quality!

I grew up in Lawrence, MA, and enjoyed some very good "New England Greek" pizza.
Most of the places I knew as a kid have long since closed. The few that remain have changed - the ingredients are different, especially the cheese. It's obvious how much local shops have cheapened out to stay in business at the expense of quality.
And gone from all is the crunchy crust. I'm of the opinion that it's the sauce that makes a pizza, but it's more often than not the crust which can ruin it.
Pizza by Alex has renewed my love of New England Greek Style pizza.
Have you ever see the Disney Movie Ratatouille? Do you remember the scene when the critic eats at the restaurant, and takes his first bite of the ratatouille that is served to him, and he is transported back in time to a memory of being a kid and eating - *loving* - the food his mom cooked for him? That was me last month eating at Pizza by Alex for the first time.
Thank you for helping me, for confirming for me that my memories of what New England Greek pizza should be like were not just rosy imaginations of a time in my life long since gone.
Why can't more pizza shops be like this?
I still live in Northeast Mass, but I find myself making trips to Maine occasionally... I will make the trip again into Biddeford. I will gladly add many out of the way miles to my travels to have that pizza again.

I grew up in Biddeford, less than a block from Alex Pizza...and worked there for my first job. I pretty much lived on their pepperoni pepper pizza. We live in Oregon now, but every time we’re back in Maine it’s the first and last place we eat. So, so good. ❤️

I've had Pizza from Maine to California. Each establishment makes their pizza different. And, yet a lot of them are very close to each other in flavor, design, and quality. However, Pizza By Alex is different. They do their crust different from anyone else. They even use a pepperoni that's different from anyone else. And, even though this next fact may put some people off, they serve their pizza in only one size. The size is perfect in my opinion. It leaves you full and yet you don't feel stuffed. Oh, you could stop eating when you felt full and save the rest for later. But, with pizza this good. You just don't feel right reheating perfection. The service is good & friendly. The wait is relatively short. And, the prices have always been excellent. When things are perfect. You don't screw with them. Keep up the excellent work Pizza By Alex! And, we'll keep coming back! There is only ONE Pizza by Alex! Don't miss it!

I have been getting pizza from here since I was a kid. It still remains one of my favorite pizza places. The crust is always perfectly crispy. Just enough sauce but not too much. My favorite is green pepper and onion. Great flavor in all their pizzas.
