Pizzeria Stella
"A cozy, casual dining area, complete with cafe windows peering out onto Society Hill’s historic Headhouse Square, is the perfect stage for our wood-burning oven, which skilled pizzaioli use to bake pies at temperatures as high as 850 degrees. Decadent pizza made with only the freshest ingredients is our specialty, but the menu extends beyond the pie to include antipasti, salads, pasta and a smart selection of Italian beer, wine and cocktails."

Was looking for thin crust pizza, and came across this gem. Ordered take out several times before dining in. While I was waiting for my take outs, I saw that pizzas are made right in front of you. I admire the skills of how the dough was stretched out. The doughs are perfectly round and beautiful. Definitely worth the visit to check this out. I dined in for the first time to take my wife. We tried the Calamari Fritte, Tartufo pizza, and the Fried Doughnuts. I liked the meal, but the dessert was a bit undercooked for us. Since the pizzas are so delicious, we are going to order two pizzas in the future.
Great pizza and pasta place! A huge pizza oven in the corner of the restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It’s great to split some apps and food and hang out. They offer many cocktails and dessert too. I was able to make a reservation before coming over the phone.Food: 5/5
Amazing wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta. Fried calamari with shishito peppers and lemons was excellent. The donuts were delicious, but were more of a heavy fried dough than a donut. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Location was great, as was the ability to sit outside with our dog. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Across the board, love this place. They use the freshest ingredients not something they pledge, but something you take away, and they're as consistent with dine-in as they are with takeout. I love their other items too. But I can't get enough of the pizzas. Each one is as delicious as the next. If you’re looking for a recommendation, try the Tartufo. And their riff on the calamari is the new classic.
Really good pizza and drinks! We shared 2 pizzas and one calamari amongst 4 people. Was just enough enough food. Calamari was decent. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather.Food: 5/5
Upscale pizza joint within walking distance to the riverfront. Woodfired pizzas served Neapolitan style. We got a 12” pepperoni pizza which is basically a medium. Crispy thin crust, nice toppings and really delicious overall. Pizza was about $19. We also tried the meatballs as an appetizer which were also very good, but were very overpriced at $12 for only two large meatballs. You can sit inside or at some tables around the exterior. We found our service somewhat lacking as we had the front host seat and serve us who was a bit impersonal and awkward to deal with. Otherwise, it would probably be a five star rating. Despite that I would recommend Stellas but maybe just sit inside to hopefully get better trained, wait staff.
Absolutely phenomenal food! We ate there two out of three nights and everything was wonderful. We never had homemade tortellini and the gnocchi was delicious. Our waitress, Willow, was also great and we look forward to seeing her next year when we return to Philadelphia for the holidays.Food: 5/5
We really like this place and go often...it's our go-to for a great quick meal and really good cocktails and awesome pizza. I have two beefs however...a lot of ppl do not want to eat or cannot digest flour/wheat. 1 It's time for you to add some other options to the pasta and pizza like maybe a fish /chicken and veal plates. 2 I enjoy a glass of wine but really... how about getting some decent stemmed wine glasses? I refuse to drink it out of a thick-walled juice glass and you guys charge a lot for a glass of wine that is more than some fine-dining restaurants
My wife and I went for our anniversary and love this place! We ordered a margarita pizza and rigatoni alla vodka. Both meals were absolutely delicious! The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and has options for outdoor dining or on the main floor. The bathroom is also wheelchair accessible but is tight to get around corners. I had to help my spouse by moving tables stored so they could access the bathroom.
One of the best pizzeria experiences! We sat at the counter since I love the cooking process. The pizza oven cave is located in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered: -whipped ricotta 5/5 - margherita pizza 5/5 The tomato sauce was very unique!! 100% recommend this. Friendly staff and cook!
