Story

Playground Pier is a luxury shopping mall located on a four-story pier adjacent to Caesars in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It is connected to the casino via a second-story skybridge. Constructed by Perini Building Company of Framingham, MA, it was opened in 1906 as an amusement pier named the "Million Dollar Pier". The pier was converted to a mall and renamed "The Shops on Ocean One" in 1983, and in 2006 was purchased by Taubman Centers and extensively renovated. The pier contains many upscale stores, like Tourneau, Gucci, Apple, Louis Vuitton, Armani A/X.While the mall is built on land owned by Caesars Entertainment, the building itself is currently owned by mortgage lenders. Taubman Centers defaulted on its $135 million loan on the center in 2010, and it was taken over by its mortgage servicer, C-III Capital Partners. The lenders failed to successfully auction the mall and have hired Cushman & Wakefield to manage the center. On June 26, 2015, "The Pier Shops at Caesars" was renamed "Playground Pier".FloorsThe mall's four floors are: The Boardwalk : The floor on this level is designed to look like the Atlantic City Boardwalk and the shops tend to focus around gifts, entertainment, and moderate to upscale stores. The Skybridge : There is direct access from Caesars through the skyway over the Boardwalk, allowing shoppers to get to the casino while avoiding the crowded boardwalk. The more upscale shops are located on this level and the design gives the impression of shopping under the stars. The Promenade : The restaurants, bars, and clubs are all located on the north side of this level of the mall. The south side of the mall is a long glass window with Adirondack chairs placed in sand to give shoppers a place to relax and feel like they are at the beach. One Atlantic : One Atlantic is a 14000sqft events venue and banquet hall on the fourth floor for weddings and parties.

They don't seem to know what their identity is. There are some bargain stores right next to high end stuff. Plus it seems less than half of the available real estate is in use. The area isn't exactly high end, and the outlets are close by. If they want to appeal to that high end customer then they need to fill this place up with quality merchants and restaurants. . It just seems like a case of mistaken identity and that probably won't change any time soon without some better management of offerings, some building improvements, and a new marketing scheme.

Located on the boardwalk, it has a comedy show, restrooms are nice and clean, a bar and grill restaurant, and a casino. It's a three level building. I highly recommend you visit this place.

We went to see a comedy show(which I must say was one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen). Place was nice and intimate. Staff was courteous & polite. I will definitely be going back. I really enjoyed myself.

This place is where the only Apple Store anywhere in this area is located. There are a few other stores that are open and a buffet in the top floor along with a beautiful observation deck but the vast majority of retail space in this "mall" is vacant.

Shopping mall is essentially a ghost town. Some repaeat shops, and many, many, shuttered or "coming soon" establishments. Third floor has a promenade with amazing views of the boardwalk and down the shore. AMAZING place to relax in bad weather, and honestly the best attraction here. Overall, worth popping in if you're on the boardwalk, but by no means a destination.
