Story

Plumpton Park offers the perfect blend of big zoo animals and small zoo comfort. Come see animals like Jimmie the Giraffe, Louie the Black Bear, and Zoe the Zebra along with Alexis and Miracle the Siberian Tigers in a very close and intimate setting. We're a wonderful destination for children and families as well as animal lovers of all ages. The is also a shaded picnic area and snack bar.

This is the authorized Facebook page for the non profit 501(c)(3) entity incorporated as Plumpton Park Zoological Gardens Inc. The name Plumpton Park Zoo and Plumpton Park Zoo are of shortened names used to refer to Plumpton Park Zoological Gardens Inc. The Plumpton Park Zoo is operated for the purpose of exhibiting animals to the public for education and conservation, while at the same time providing a home for exotic animals that are in need of homes and can not be help privately.

Products

The zoo is open every day from 10am-5 with last admission at 4:00 pm. (Summer Hours - Memorial Day to Labor Day 9:00 to 6:00 ) We have a gift shop and a snack stand. Visitors to the zoo can also purchase petting zoo food and hand feed some of the zoo's friendly animals.

Took my two kids (ages 2 and 6 months) today. It was a great trip! I was very surprised at the size of the zoo and how many different types of animals they had. The staff was very friendly and we could see many employees actively working to enhance the zoo. We spent over two hours here (a long time for us!) but we could have stayed all day. Very pleasant, lots of shade and opportunities to sit. We packed a picnic lunch and ate it there. We'll be back!

This is a WONDERFUL place for families and people of all ages to enjoy. My mom and I (55, 19) spent the day here and can't say enough good things. The variety of animals is impressive, all the cages are personalized and entertaining, the facility is clean and well taken care of , and best of all the animals are inquisitive and interactive! When you walked up to a cage, they usually walk right up to check you out, and in certain areas you can enjoy petting them. I spent most of my time playing with the birds in the exhibits, they were fun and playful and so interested in the visitors! Great place, so happy it's here, I will hopefully be bringing back some of my friends from UDel for visits because it's so close and so much fun. Keep up the great work staff and don't miss the chance to visit!

Nice zoo, not too big but perfect for small children because there is a ton to see.  The animals seem healthy and the staff were very friendly.  There is plenty of shade so if visiting on a warmer day you can get relief from the sun.  If I had to list any cons it would be that some of the paths were muddy at points and they also only have one restroom... again these do not really hinder anything.  I am not from the area but I am glad I went out of my way when traveling home to visit, would definitely visit again... myself and my two year old son loved it!

A delightful experience for the entire family! Picnic grounds provided. Staff is very pleasant! Can't wait to go back!  Only disappointment was paying five dollars extra..each.. to see the babies... A young wolf.. A few rabbits.. And a cougar cub.   Could not see two of the three up close after waiting an hour and a half with a two and four year old.

Wonderful little zoo with a big feel. Perfect day trip. Don't miss zombies at the zoo near Halloween time frame. Great fun. Wonderful place to take kids or walk with a date.
