Came in on Wednesday about 11:30 AM. There was a few people in the place so we sat down. The entire staff was super friendly and Sherry the owner was extremely nice. Two of us ordered the pile high breakfast. The food was totally excellent! The coffee tastes great and is refilled often. I would expect that it would take a while to get food during the warm months when cedar point is open. The prices of everything were so much less than what we expected!
EDIT: Came back on Saturday at 11 am. Their busiest time. My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to find seating at the bar right away. Got our coffees and placed our order within 5 minutes. It took over an hour to get our food. I'm am STILL not taking away a star. The ladies were very hospitable, refilled my coffee each time I emptied it, about 4 times while I waited. Most patrons were cool and cucumbers as they waited the wait is expected on Saturdays. The food was delicious when it did arrive and the portions are so big. Nothing to complain about. Sure, I wish it came quicker, but what can you do when every table and barstool in the establishment is filled. Still marking it as a favorite on my map. From Thursday: What an amazing establishment. The breakfast rocked, and the prices were so good. I had the omelette special Bratwurst & Cheese with potatoes inside the omelette. That was delicious! My girlfriend ordered the mushroom omelette and that tasted wonderful. She ordered a side of French toast and some bacon, and it was like a third meal we shared. Awesome establishment, and the service was great. My coffee and water never emptied. Wonderful people.
Expect a 40 minute wait be patient with the short staff, great food, wonderful people. HIGHLY recommend the "Piled High". Eggs, home fries, sausage gravy and cheese, piled high. Don't forget to tip!Food: 5/5
WOW! What a gem of a place. Absolutely awesome home cooked style meals. Unbelievable prices and super generous helpings. This is one of those places that looks unassuming both outside and in but the food is perfect. We went for breakfast on the recommendation of our hotel staff. If you’re looking for the best home cooked meal in town, this is the place.
I really hated to give this place a one star review because it is a family restaurant and the staff was friendly, but it literally was THE worst breakfast dining experience of my lifetime. We gave ourselves 1.5 hours for breakfast on a Tuesday prior to heading to Cedar Point. From the time the food was ordered about 20 minutes after arrival it was easily 1 hour wait for two over easy eggs, some hash browns and bacon. We lost time at the park. I could have gone to the grocery store and cooked it myself in that time. Food was way too greasy, AND I love greasy spoon restaurants. The coffee tasted weird, so I don't know what was up with that. They are packed with locals, probably due to the insanely low prices. They need to charge more and get another fast order cook. If you brag about the long waits on your menu, you might want to not be in the food service business. Avoid this place unless you like to waste a large part of your day, greasy food laddened with oil, bad coffee, and soggy toast. I normally like local Mom and Pop restaurants, but this has to be one of the worst in Ohio, if not the worst breakfast place ever.
We were visiting from Indiana and were on the look out for a decent breakfast spot- something unique that offered good and satisfying food- somewhere that isn't Perkins or Bob Evans. We did a quick google search and stumbled upon this quaint, little place. The reviews told us all we needed to know and they were right! Port Sandusky Family Restaurant is easy to miss when driving by and especially if not from the area. Google took us right to the address. The building is unmarked and resembles an old storefront- so you're kinda left wondering if this is the place. Its on the corner and next to a thrift store and a Goodwill. Upon entering, you'll find its quite small and speaks of times past. Patrons are probably from the surrounding neighborhood and may turn and look to see who entered but don't be put off and walk out the door- everyone is welcome! Their menu isn't that of a Denny's, however, you wouldn't be searching if that's what you were looking for. They do have pretty much any breakfast item most places serve- including but not limited to- grits, oatmeal, cereal, omelet's, french toast etc. and its all made with care. As other reviews stated, all menu items are made to order. Portions are large and prices are low. Be prepared to sit, have a cup of coffee and a good conversation..... you may wait a few minutes 'til a waitress takes your order- this is not a franchise. It will take some time for your food to be made- be patient and you will be happy. Our food came out and we were more than satisfied with it. The fried potatoes are AMAZING! They're not bland hash browns and for that, I was happy! NO complaints here! If you're from out of town and craving a unique experience- stop here- it's different and really good.
A very old diner just about two blocks from the lake. It doesn't really have a sign out front, but it was very busy, so I guess it's not needed. We waited quite a while for our food, but the waitress was very efficient.
This was the first time I had ever gone there and the food was fantastic. I loved how quaint the restaurant was. The prices weren't bad either
Somewhat slow service, but fantastic food and worth the wait. Was kept up with coffee and water while waiting. Had the 'Piled High' which was a fantastic mixture of everything breakfast.
Family restaurant, and the quality of the food really shines through. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Came from out of state, but if we travel through this way again, it is a definite stop on our list.
