Portage WWII Museum
This is a must see! Its the 2010 winner of the Columbia County Vistiors Bureau Award. It is a 2 hour guided tour full of amazing information and many artifacts. This tour has stumped several history buffs and WWII veterans too! Many of the pieces have come from half way across the world to Portage, WI. From badges to daggers and so much in between! Just when you think you have seen something so rare you will never see something that rare again...you move on to the next room and se so much more that is more rare than you just seen! There are many things to see and learn from Hitler's SS to the Hitler youth. The museum diplays tribute to all military From the Army, Army Air Corps, Navy & Marines. There is a variety of weapons on display including 2 original 100lb bombs from WWII! There is a Holocaust room too that is growing little by little. We were told by other museums not to have a a Holocaust room but we believe that this should never be forgotten.There is much to see in this room things you never forget and things you never knew about. but it is part of the history that goes with WWII and needs to talked about.
