Brewery Restaurant and Craft Beer Test Kitchen
Portner Brewhouse is brewery restaurant and Craft Beer Test Kitchen inspired by South's largest pre-Prohibition brewery - The Robert Portner Brewing Company. The former Portner brewery was headquartered in Alexandria, VA from 1869 until 1916 when the State of Virginia passed Prohibition. A century later, two of Robert Portner's great-great grandchildren, Catherine & Margaret Portner, are reviving the spirit of that era and celebrating the achievement of the American Dream.
Portner Brewhouse features reconstructed recipes of the Robert Portner Brewing Company's beers, seasonal beer offerings and beers designed in the Craft Beer Test Kitchen served alongside classic German and contemporary American cuisine. The innovative development program for aspiring brewers to test one of their recipes is known as the Craft Beer Test Kitchen program.
