First of all, this company (or at least who I talked to) would not give me a quote over the phone on how much the installation of two fire alarms would cost.  This would be for a hard-wired, plus a battery operated alarm.  When the electrician arrived he quoted me a price of $649.  I said that was really expensive and he took $50 off.  He didn't really seem concerned about what an outlandish price that was.  I stupidly agreed to the work and paid the $599.  I have total buyer's remorse - and at the very least can warn others about what a rip-off this company is.  If you make an appointment and get a crazy price once the electrician is at your home - you will still need to pay the service fee for the guy coming to your house even if you do not do the job.  That's what they are betting on - that since the guy is there, you'll just go ahead an do the job - like I did.  I would never recommend this company to anyone - I guess lesson learned.  TOTAL RIP-OFF - BEWARE!!

Was told it would cost $8k to change out the panel, possibly move it.. lots and lots of work.  Tried to talk to finance guy who I believe his name is Sam something.  My Mom just wanted to see if they could hook her up with some discounts cos you know, $8k is A LOT. 

My Mom may speak broken english, but she is not dumb and she does understand what you're telling us to an extent, but we are not familiar with electrician lingo. This guy was SO RUDE and SO DISRESPECTFUL while talking to her.  I made her cancel the contract immediately!

Highly recommend to stay away!!!

I just had Powell electric come out last week and install a chandelier and sconces in my dining room.  I've always used  Powell electric for every job since I moved into my house in 2005.  They always go above and beyond the call of duty - my house was built in 1939 and  the wiring was not updated, so they have fixed many many things for me, in addition to helping me with my outdoor lighting, installing fixtures, smoke alarms, surge protectors etc. 

I love them because they are always professional and efficient, and they are clear about the scope of work, and do what they say they are going to do.  

 I read the other reviews and it appears that the main complaint is the price.  I honestly have no idea whether Powell Electric is more expensive than other places - because I don't shop around and I just call them - but if they are I assume it's because each electrician is thoroughly vetted, and they are well taken care of.  Most of the electricians on the Powell team tell me they were independent contractors until working for Powell, and they would never go back because Powell takes such good care of them benefits-wise.  Personally, for me, this is important.  Almost as important as the fact that they are background checked. 

But the bottom line is that the work is always perfect - never a problem.  So I'd rather make it right the first time.

This company is a complete scam.  They charge you $99.00 for an estimate come to your house and quote you an exorbitant price for a simple job.  Then walk away with your hard earned money.  Guy didn't even put back what he took apart.  I had to fix it myself.  Don't believe their bologna!  Better Business Bureau, here I come!

Scam. Beware. If you'd  like to be ripped off though, then go ahead and hire them. They'll charge you 99$ for the consultation( ridiculous) and quote you an outrageous price only because "we have license and insurance". Guess what guys, all legal businesses have license and insurance. You are not unique.
