This place has potential- fantastic service, great vibe, good interiors for a bistro and a decent bar menu. Unfortunately what lets it down is the food. The food is ‘ok’. But then that’s the problem too- it’s just okay. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the food, but then there’s nothing great with it either. When food is okay, the pricing has to align and the steeper pricing for the kind of food lets this place down. If you are a hardcore fan of Italian cuisine and want to check out a new spot, it’s worth a one time visit. Else there are other spots in the vicinity that I prefer.
The food was good but I was expecting that special things I usually find in a family Italian restaurant! the fried mozzarella sandwich had some fishy taste and the waiter appetizers for it directly! The atmosphere is excellent how ever the chairs were really uncomfortable! Again I don’t want to be so harsh since it’s my first time.i will definitely visit it again and update my review!
Wow! I’ve lived in Lakeview for about 13 years and this was my first time here, although i’ve tried many other times but never worked out. To be able to say I had the opportunity to TASTE the food, is truly a culinary experience! We had a variety of dishes to really explore the menu and judge the talent of the chef’s creations! We ordered the Paccheri Campanello, which was spectacularly prepared and piping hot when it arrived, which is rare these days! Next up was the Pollo Chioggia, also phenomenal, a lemon wedge would have been an even better touch! The appetizer Gamberi Aglio Arrostito was a treat! Would’ve loved some more bread, possibly thinner and lemon wedge would have blown this dish out the water! Dessert was a definite and boy were we glad we ordered it, italian bread pudding with vanilla gelato, warm, light and glorious! The drinks were also amazing and creatively prepared… Black Currant Gin Fizz & Cranberry Margaritas! …oh and the limoncello before dessert was EPIC!! The worse part of the meal was when I made the MISTAKE to order the rustic Margherita pizza! I tasted one slice and regretted it almost immediately. definitely a waste The crust had a terrible consistency, flavor and definitely does not fit with the spectacular dishes that we had the privilege to taste. THE STAFF ARE PHENOMENAL!! WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!! We even ordered carryout the next evening it was that DAMN GOOD!!
I stopped in today after the Linguine Padavani had been on my mind for a while—my go-to here. This experience wasn’t the best, but I think it was more of a fluke thing because PR has been fantastic every other time. I was seated immediately, even despite the upcoming Cubs game, but the service was a little slow. And the burrata and linguine were delicious, but those are two tiny crostinis and the chicken had a reheated taste to it. A little disappointing but not enough to sway me. I’ll definitely be back for more and am already excited. The food always comes out nice and hot, and there’s a cozy feel to it if that makes any sense. I also love the atmosphere at PR. It has a certain down-to-earth/neighborhood feel, but it’s elevated at the same time. The servers are always super kind, too!
This place is amazing. Great food. Our server was great. Unfortunately, when our two-year old had a tough moment, the bartender came over to our table away from the bar and asked us to leave. Probably the most shocking kid-hating moment I’ve ever had. It was 6pm. It’s a family restaurant. More embarrassing for the bartender than for us honestly. I hope the bar tips were worth being an awful person!
Absolutely loved their Paccheri Campanello and Italian blood orange hard soda. Everything was so delicious! Our server was an absolutely gem. We sat on the patio which was a delightful experience! I can't wait to go back!Food: 5/5
Food was great, service was good. Definitely take the time to check the specials, and if the pork cheek ragu is on there order it. Great selection of wines by the glass, tiramisu was a good choice too. Outdoor seating is dog friendly.Food: 5/5
Love this pizza and Italian food. Great do it yourself bloody Mary bar with homemade mix on Sundays. The homemade pasta is always amazing. Pizza is not standard Chicago style, but it is delicious. All their regular menu and specials are great. Service is always great. Try to walk over as often as possible, even with the infantFood: 5/5
Really happy with my experience tonight. Sat at the bar, as we do, and worked our way through the heaviest sections of the menu. I'll sleep like the dead tonight. Make sure to check out their daily menu specials blackboard and their killer happy hour. $5 martinis? Shut up. Goodbye ever wearing pants again.
We love this place. Hard to find nice dining in lakeview/wrigley, and PR Italiano is about the only place that sticks out. Stefano, the owner, is there every night and the specials are all based on what he can find in the market. Often you hear about someone who owns a restaurant and isn’t involved with the food, but it’s a pretty cool thing that the owner of the restaurant is the head chef. His son is also a server on the weekends and he is such a great. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. If you’re thinking about giving it a shot, do it. It’s great!
