Stopped by while on a road trip. Nice thing to see! There is a short brick wall that divides the sidewalk area from the grassy area where the prairie dogs are. There are prairie dog holes in the ground even past the wall, on the left side of the park. You're able to get close enough to them. There were carrots, lettuce, and peanuts on the ground so it looks like people do feed them. There are no signs saying not too. Just a sign saying to not go past the brick wall and get too close to them. They are wild animals after all. Nice activity to do if you're passing through the area!
This place is pretty cool. There are prairie dogs all over. Sometimes they are in the spots. They're not supposed to be, but that's okay. And the golf course has balls that you can In the outfield, bring your old scraps of food to feed the little guys. They like to bark at you while you're approaching their area and warn the others. There's parks here and it's a good place for gathering. This area is good for picnic. Scattering with family having birthday parties or holidays as long as the weather is permitting. There's actually a couple of parks here I think. I go to this park sometimes if I have time to kill between shifts. It's a very peaceful place to think if you need to always very quiet and not really crowded most of the time. I even come in the rain and the prairie. Dogs do some cool stuff when it's been raining because the water gets in their holes and they have to dig it out. We also unfortunately found a little skull of a prairie dog who didn't make it. I guess. That was kind of sad but no worries. Because there are plenty plenty, plenty plenty. Plenty more prairie, dog fun in the area.
If you are in the city, or driving through as I was, it is a cool free place to stop by. Other than the area listed as the Prairie Dog Town, they are all over the park area. This allows you to see them easily and watch them. They are smaller than the ones I saw in South Dakota, In South Dakota they were a highlight of that road trip with food you can buy for them and hang out in the area.
First time seeing Prairie Dogs. They are absolutely adorable. This free park let's you really see them up close. It looks like they are regularly fed as lettuce and carrots were scattered around. Someone honked their horn, and the dogs scattered. They don't like loud noise or dogs. Don't bring your dogs to see these dogs. Someone was feeding them potato chips, and there is no sign saying you couldn't feed them. We tossed them some pistachios, shelled, and they really liked them.
This was a fun little stop while on a road trip to Colorado this past summer. The prairie dogs were so cute. I have visited here twice before and each time I have enjoyed watching these adorable prairie dogs run around and dig their holes. If you are in Lubbock stop by this place for a bit. I spent about 15 minutes here.Wait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree

Such a nice place to visit and see the Prarie Dogs in their natural habits. We bring baby carrots or cut up apples to feed them. Free to see and most active in mornings and evenings.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
