Prographica Gallery specializes in contemporary drawing, painting, and photography. The art ranges from straightforward traditional realism to abstraction. The artists featured include those in the early stages of their careers and others with substantial professional accomplishments. Prographica’s exhibition model is similar to that of a repertory theater wherein the work of gallery and invited artists is showcased in rotating thematic, solo, and two- and three-person exhibitions. In addition to the exhibition program, Prographica hosts lectures, panel discussions and literary readings.

Stopped in to see celebrated Seattle photographer Marsha Burns work and was very disappointed to see a prepubescent nude photograph on display. To be clear, it was beautifully composed, tightly cropped and the focal point is a young face, undeveloped chest and bare vagina. 

Whatever your take on provocation, decoupling sexuality from naked form, child model consent, etc. it's an unnecessary display that potentially legitimizes and even elevates the acquisition and collection of photographs of naked children. Poor taste IMHO.

In the least, it's a distraction from otherwise outstanding portraiture.

Excellent show--and an inspiring talk by curator Norman Lundin on the relative ease with which landscape can transition into abstraction. He recommended considering stopping short of total loss of description, and doing that without changing your formal approach.  You just leave out subject matter. Good advice, which I already follow. I still see subject matter, even if I didn't intend it.  And it's always landscape as well as figurative.
