I had severe gum recession throughout my entire mouth due to years of teeth clenching and grinding while asleep. I started wearing a mouth guard about 10 years before my surgery. I had wonderfully successful surgery without any problems at all. And, it appears that further gum recession has halted because I wear my mouth guard every night (and sometimes during the evening or when driving if I feel anxious). I am headed back to consult with Dr. Padilla about the possibility of a new gum surgery technique that might be used to cover roots of bottom teeth that could not be fixed with the traditional surgery. I am hoping that I am eligible for the new surgery :-)
