PHENOMENAL. The food, the atmosphere, the customer service. All of it! Visiting DC from Philadelphia and I spent my birthday here last night with my husband and it’s our favorite place we’ve dined at ever!  We watched the college football games - if you’re looking for a fancier place with good food to watch some sports, but still want that fun environment - this is the perfect spot!  I had the poke nachos and mussels, my husband had the birria egg rolls and salmon - chefs kiss, such good food!  Thank you Gabriel and Mark for such fantastic customer service! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful building with a pretty patio area! There was ample street parking when my party of four stopped by around 2:30 this Saturday afternoon. The restaurant itself wasn’t crowded, the waitstaff were friendly and the food was absolutely delicious!  Taking off one star for three reasons: despite not being super busy we did have to flag down the staff to get water refills rather than having them offered periodically which broke up conversation when we had to stop and ask. It was also in the 90s outside so it would have been nice to have the staff be a little more proactive. The second reason is that 2 of the four linens we received had some sort of white discoloration which was unsightly. The third reason is that we were seated at a bistro table despite being a party of four adults. When the food came out we had to ask for an additional table to be brought over because there simple wasn’t enough room to comfortably eat our food since the bistro tables are really meant for two. However, they were very accommodating- it would just be nice to have that thought of ahead of time rather than have to suffer or ask explicitly. Our table tried the shrimp and grits, the chicken and waffles, the andouille shakshuka  and the huevos rancheros plus sides of bacon, rosemary potatoes and a few drinks. The food was great, the restaurant was clean and beautiful and the staff were friendly albeit less proactive. Still had a great time and would visit again.

Service awful. Walked in and had to pass the host stand going towards the bar for someone to actually greet me. Server came to the table super casual - "What can I get you". He didn't make any effort to engage. It felt as though we were an inconvenience to them. Food was basic, the strawberry dessert is terrible.

Had an amazing experience dining here for dinner with my friends! The Harvest Sangria was sooooo good. I had a Proper Burger the fries were bomb amd we split the Churro Waffle for dessert. Highly recommend coming here for dinner and can't wait to return!Food: 5/5

Rarely can you leave a review of an establishment that you've only had positive experiences at. Proper 21 K's food, service and vibes are nothing but the greatest. Haley, the bartender, always provides the best menu recommendations and makes the best drinks. She's pleasant to chat with and always takes great care of her customers.Food: 5/5

The first time I went to proper 21k, they were offering a wonderful deal during brunch hours. They offered unlimited food and drinks for a flat fee and everything was delicious! We all got different dishes and enjoyed all of them. We asked for more orders of the potatoes because they were amazing. We left tipsy and satiated!  The second time I went to this same location, 3 months later, I was told they still had this brunch deal but when we arrived we found out that was not the case. We decided to stay anyway and the food was good again, however the kitchen should be embarrassed about their shrimp and grits. As you can see in the picture, there are 3 small shrimp per serving which is not at all worth the price. My sister brought it to the attention of the waiter who very truthfully acknowledged that it is not a good serving and was very understanding when my sister asked to choose a different entree. The waiter said took my sister's order of a burger and also said she would have the chef come out. The chef came out shortly after and also apologized but he said that was just the serving they used. His body language and demeanor suggested that he also knew it was an insufficient amount of shrimp for the dish. She was also offered a comp dessert or drink. However, we were once again disappointed because the burger took a long time to come out and was overcooked based on my sister's temp request. Finally, while the server was friendly, the service was slow and inexcuseable because the restaurant was slow. I probably wouldn't go to this restaurant again.

I had a really great experience with Haley at the bar. She helped me choose a cocktail which was delicious. She was very friendly and kind, and really made my day. I will definitely be back to see her!Food: 5/5

Pretty good overall first time experience for me a the girls. We went on Sunday around 1pm for brunch. Not too busy. The ambiance was really cute and perfect for photos, my French toast was tasty my side of sausage needed a bit more time on the griddle the mimosas were great although, the carafe was a tad too small IMO live music was a great added touch. The other girls ordered the chicken & waffles and shrimp & grits. Both were pleased with their meals as well. The server was fairly knowledgeable about the menu but she was a little slow to return to our table to check to see if we needed anything.

Their truffle fries are so delicious: I'd come back just to order them again! Their poke nachos were really good too. The space was pretty open for a weekday evening and the staff was pretty busy yet friendly! Great spot for a quick bite!Food: 3/5

Haylie, the bartender at Proper21, is nothing short of amazing! In my year of frequenting this establishment, she consistently takes excellent care of me. Her friendliness is unmatched, and her drink-making skills are top-notch. It's like she reads my mind – the moment I walk in, she already knows my drink of choice. Haylie adds a personal touch that elevates the entire experience. Highly recommend!
