David Rodes, Lead Pastor
We understand the mission in which we are engaged is wrapped up in the words of Jesus in Luke 19:10. Here at PNC, we phrase it like this:
Uniting with Jesus in finding and restoring lost and broken people - God's treasured creation.
The MISSION to "unite, find and restore" is at the heart of the 'what and why' of PNC. Uniting is the way we love God, Finding is the way we love the unchurched and broken people, and Restoring is the way we love churched and broken people in our ever-expanding community of faith.
PNC is a vital player in the endeavor to love God and love others. The purpose in this is to reveal to ordinary people, people who ordinarily live without hope and freedom, the character and power of God through Jesus Christ. It is consistent with this vision that we expect the Holy Spirit to work in a way that will genuinely draw people into a life-changing relationship with God.
Four Missional Values are the definitive rails on which we set the flow of PNC's ministries and organization in order to accomplish the mission entrusted to us. These values are centered in genuine relationship to Jesus Christ as Lord, in the reality of becoming a new community defined by God's love and in the power of the Holy Spirit - God's divine presence working in us and through us.
Encountering God
For every gathering of the congregation at PNC, our commitment is to pray, plan and prepare in such a way that people have the opportunity for a life-changing encounter with the living God. This means that we hold faithfully to the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ while also translating that message into culturally relevant language as it is presented through word, worship, media and prayer.
Transforming People
The objective in this missional value is real change. Transformation is the dynamic process by which every believer and the whole 'community of believers' become more like Jesus expressed primarily in our love for God and love for all others. Real change happens together, in the context of community and in the environment of grace and truth.
Engaging Families
We desire to intentionally reach the next generations of children and youth, including their parents. We purpose to engage children and youth, young leaders and families in the exciting adventure of wholeheartedly following Jesus Christ. We take hope in the celebratory declaration of Ephesians 3:20-21 in which it is stated: "To God be glory in Christ Jesus and throughout all generations...".
Investing In Others
It is God's will that we commit ourselves to developing a 'culture of invitation' in which the community of PNC dynamically and readily invests compassionate witness to those who are unchurched. Investing in others with love opens opportunities to inviting them to experience Christ. It is our way of loving God and loving others.
The mission of PNC, RESOURCED by the many volunteers who give their time and energy to serving through various ministries as well as through the faithful giving of tithes and offerings of the congregation and friends.
