If you're on the hunt for a good bowl of ramen in NYC, look no further than Ramen Danbo. What makes Ramen Danbo particularly special is its dedication to catering to all kinds of diners, including a full section of the menu specifically crafted for vegans. This thoughtful inclusion offers a variety of options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen, regardless of their dietary preferences. The ramen itself is exceptional, with a broth that is incredibly flavorful and rich. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful, adding texture and depth to each bowl. I was especially impressed with their Curry Ramen, which is infused with authentic Japanese curry spices that create a comforting and aromatic experience. The depth of flavor in the broth is something that is often hard to find, making each sip feel like a warm embrace. The accompaniments are just as impressive, perfectly complementing the ramen and enhancing the overall experience. From the perfectly cooked noodles to the fresh toppings, everything feels carefully thought out and meticulously prepared. Overall, this place delivers a perfect ramen experience in every way. The combination of authentic flavors, high-quality ingredients, and a welcoming atmosphere makes this place a must-visit destination.
A pretty decent ramen store, reasonable price and classic style. A good spot for someone who is not rush but don’t want a fancy meal. I had the negi-goma scallion & sesame soup, thick noodles with a side gyoza. Highly recommend this flavor, the soup was delicious and not too oily. Regarding topping, chashu was standard, but egg was pretty good. Gyoza was also a classic. Vegetarian options: Vegan ramen
Ambiance and Setting Ramen Danbo offers a cozy and minimalist atmosphere, typical of many ramen shops. The restaurant features a warm and inviting interior with wooden furnishings, simple decor, and an open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work. The seating includes both counter spaces and tables, making it suitable for both solo diners and small groups. The ambiance is casual and bustling, often filled with the comforting aroma of simmering broth. Cuisine and Menu The menu at Ramen Danbo focuses primarily on Tonkotsu ramen, a rich and creamy pork bone broth that is a staple of Fukuoka-style ramen. The restaurant allows for a high degree of customization, enabling diners to tailor their ramen to their specific tastes. Options for customization include noodle firmness, broth richness, and spice levels. Highlights and Specialties Classic Tonkotsu Ramen The signature dish features a flavorful, creamy broth, thin noodles, and toppings such as chashu pork, scallions, and a soft-boiled egg. The depth of flavor in the broth is a highlight, achieved through a long and careful simmering process. Negi-goma Tonkotsu Ramen This variation includes a generous amount of green onions and sesame seeds, adding a fresh and nutty twist to the traditional Tonkotsu. Spicy Rekka Ramen For those who enjoy heat, the Spicy Rekka offers a spicier take on the classic Tonkotsu, with a blend of spicy miso paste and chili oil. Vegan Ramen Ramen Danbo also caters to vegan diners with a robust vegan ramen option, featuring a plant-based broth and toppings like tofu and vegetables. Service The service at Ramen Danbo is efficient and friendly. Despite the often busy environment, the staff are attentive and quick to accommodate requests and modifications. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu and can assist with recommendations based on dietary preferences and spice tolerance. Ramen Danbo in the West Village offers an authentic and customizable ramen experience that stands out in New York City’s vibrant food scene. With its focus on high-quality ingredients, traditional preparation methods, and customer satisfaction, it’s a must-visit for ramen enthusiasts and those looking to enjoy a comforting bowl of ramen. The cozy atmosphere and efficient service further enhance the dining experience, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.
hands down some of the best vegan ramen i’ve had in the city!!! tons of options for people that are vegetarian/vegan and options to increase spice or add mushrooms. i loved the deep sesame flavor and ability to customize your noodle for the ramen you order. 10/10! Vegetarian options: curry ramen
Hidden away among several restaurants in West Village, is the humble Ramen Danbo and boy am I in love. I’ve been on the hunt for some good, spicy, vegan ramen and this did not disappoint! As an Indian, I’m super particular about acceptable spice levels lol. The variety of vegan options blew me away! I tried the Miso Ramen with the spicy broth and everything else, standard. It arrived piping hot and extremely flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The quantity is good for 1 person. Also got 2 orders of the vegan gyoza which were very delicious. No complaints. Rachael served us and was extremely friendly/attentive. Very affordably priced. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: My dear fellow Indians, I hope you read this!
A Bowl of Pure Bliss!!! Ramen Danbo delivers a ramen experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. The moment the bowl arrives, the rich, aromatic broth promises a flavor explosion. Each slurp of the perfectly textured noodles is a pure delight. The broth itself is a masterpiece, with a depth of flavor that hints at hours of careful preparation. The toppings are equally impressive. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth chashu is a standout, but the other elements like the perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg and the fresh scallions elevate the dish to new heights. Ramen Danbo has truly mastered the art of ramen, and it's clear that every bowl is made with passion and precision. If you're a ramen enthusiast, Ramen Danbo is an absolute must-try.
Some of the best ramen i’ve had in the city ! the broth was creamy and perfect level of spice. I had the negi goma ramen with extra tofu. Unfortunately they were out of the vegan egg for the night. Can’t wait to go back and try it !!Food: 5/5
The ramen is always good. Every time I do classic one with extra spice added boild egg. The broth with firm noodles is the best! They all have lunch special that you can choose soda or gyoza. You can pay only $2 for extra noodles! Parking: Street parking
Had the rekka curry ramen the curry is seasonal, rekka means include "ichimi togarashi powder" for additional spiciness. I chose the light richness level, and I think that was right for me I'm typically eating lighter foods like salads. Finished in maybe 10 minutes when my 3 friends were less than half way through theirs -- partly cuz I was hungry partly cuz it was decent ramen. I think 4 is fair. One friend who is a ramen enthusiast was not impressed after just a few bites. He asked for some salt , but funny enough the restaurant didn't have salt! They did ask if the ramen was not flavorful enough for him, did try to make it better for him, but there was no solution. I suspect he would rate the ramen 2
A lovely spot to enjoy delicious ramen! I brought my family for lunch on a Saturday, they sat us down right away than gave us cards for each of us. You can personalize your ramen specific to you. I filled out the basic’s for my children and enjoyed my own curry ramen. It was made quickly and served hot enough to enjoy right away! Restroom was clean and they gave us all towelettes to clean ourselves afterwards. Kid-friendliness: They were attentive that the ramen had a small spicy thing and asked if I rather not have it for any of the kids. Patient with us even when we had a spill of water.
