My girlfriend and I went into Red Door for a few beers while in town for Voodoo Festival. It has a dark, dive bar atmosphere, which I personally enjoy. Add the $3 "imports" and some football and I had everything I needed. No food here, just chips and snacks for sale.

This place is dirty and gross. It's cheap. That's it's only redeeming quality. The vibe is sketchy, never sure if you're going to be stabbed or not. The bartenders are hit or miss. Either nice or complete assholes who think they're holier than thou... one of them is also kind of a racist. Anyway, if you can't make the extra four block walk to bayou beer garden, want to get hit on by a homeless person, or feel like getting syphillis, all for the sake of a cheap beer, then go here...

A great neighborhood bar to stop in and have a drink.  There's a pool table and internet jukebox as well, if you feel like terrorizing the patrons with your post-shot musical tastes.  Some great tacos a few doors down, or you can stumble over to Little Tokyo and embarrass yourself with drunken sushi, which is probably a poor life choice, looking back.  Ah well.
