The strength of this theater is the list of prestige and offbeat films. Don't come here for a Marvel movie, but during award season this theater is the only one which shows all the nominees for Best Picture.

Plus number one, they take MoviePass. Plus number two, this is one of a few theaters that will play movies other theaters in Austin won't. Please don't bulldoze the Arbor to make way for more apartments. This theater benefits my quality of life. Save the Arbor!

You'll find movies here that are most difficult to find elsewhere. And they show many first run movies as well. Prices for drinks, etc are high, but no higher than they are at most other theaters. Seating is first come, first serve, which I prefer, rather that the "new thing" of choosing your seat on a chart beforehand. I like to sit close to feel like I'm "in" the movie, with no heads to distract. But one can never be quite sure exactly where one is going to be sitting by looking at a chart on a computer. So I prefer The Arbor's old timey first come, first serve method. Beware of parking issues on Friday and Saturday nights. I've had to give up twice for lack of a parking spot. But the last movie of the night is fantastic. It's almost like you have your own private screening! Word has it that this entire area is going to be torn down and replaced. I surely hope the Arbor survives. It's an Austin treasure. My sister lives near Tampa, Florida, and the closest indie theater is 2 hours away! The Arbor should be treasured, especially by movie lovers. Let's hope the developers have some artistic film sense and aren't purely driven by the almighty dollar. The Arbor deserves to live!!!

One of my favorite theaters. Showings for the best movies, not just whatever is biggest budget right now. Everyone is friendly, and they have beer and wine!

Consistently great selection of films, better curated than the Alamo, but the sound/acoustics have been atrocious on my visits. I'm not sure if it's poor luck, but I saw My Friend Dahmer sometime in the winter and the audio in the theater was muffled and extremely quiet, to the point that some dialogue was very difficult to understand. Tonight, I saw Isle of Dogs and the same terrible audio experience. Very quiet and it sounded like the speakers were in the adjacent theater and I was unsure if some whispered dialog was even meant to be understood by the viewers. For what its worth, tonight I was in theater #4. Please fix the audio issues, I don't think I'll be making the drive out if it continues. 2 medium sodas and a medium popcorn was $21.
