Ordered through Doordash and it was worth the money to put it simply! The cornbread is so fresh that it dissolves in your mouth. The pineapple jerk ribs are to die for since the meat practically falls off the bone and the sauce flavor is exquisite. The collared greens were warm and their seasonings were delicious! I'm not a native to Alabama nor too familiar with soul/Jamaican food but I can say with confidence that this restaurant is amazing! Definitely worth ordering from or visiting their restaurant in person.
Great meal! I ordered fried catfish with the sides steam cabbage and rice and peas. The catfish was battered and fried just like my grandma used to cook fish. Loved it! And the sauce in the rice and peas went perfectly with the fried fish. Excellent flavor! The cabbage was really good as well. And it all tasted so good with a cold beer on a hot Alabama day! The service was great and everyone was friendly! I would definitely recommend.
This is my third time eating here and I love their food and atmosphere. I haven’t been disappointed on neither visit so I’ll definitely continue to dine here. Below are a few pics from my most recent visit. I had the jerk chicken, rice and beans and cabbage delicious, my man had to the jerk chicken pasta which didn’t need any seasoning and tasted amazing and we had a side of okra which I love because they are always crispy like I prefer okra to be!!! We sat at the bar and the bartender gave great customer service, Thank You Ma’am. If you are in the area you must visit! In addition I currently serve in the Army and there was a plaque of a fallen Soldier displayed so I did some research and found out the Soldier that passed started the restaurant with her husband she passed in 2019 of breast cancer and served in the USArmy. Thank you for your service ma’am! Continue to rest peacefully. They also give military discount if you ask which I assume was in her honor!!!
I have nothing bad to say about this experience. The food was amazing and our waitress was very attentive around 4 o’clock on a Friday. I had the pineapple jerk chicken wings with okra and plantains. I cleared my plate because it was so good. The chicken fell off the bone, the okra was fried perfectly and the plantains had a great flavor. We were already planning what to eat next time we are there because the whole table enjoyed it so much.
The atmosphere is absolutely great on a Friday night in august! I know it may differ with the football traffic soon, but it was great loud live music 90’s - early 2000’s r&b / pop. Just my style but I was overwhelmed with how good the food was we had the curry chicken and the Rasta pasta with jerk chicken and both loved it!! The people were all extremely nice and it’s not just like all the typical grill/ bar type restaurants in the area it is a whole experience!
So I have an unhealthy love for oxtails so anytime I can find a place that serves them, I'm there! Reggae Flava is a new place in Downtown Tuscaloosa. As with everywhere else, you must wear a face mask upon entry. The menu has all the good traditional Jamaican cuisines and specialty cocktails. I ordered of course the oxtails with rice and plantains. I cleared my plate. October Update: They recently introduced a Sunday menu. I ordered the chicken with collards, yams, fried okra, and rice.
There was a fly in my food! Music was so loud I couldn’t even hear my friend yelling across the table at me. Waitress took forever to service us! Other waitress was bumping into me with dirty dishes every five seconds and dropping stuff all over the floor and dirty napkins all on our table. Service is so unorganized! Also after finding the fly in my food, could not get another plate because they closed the kitchen 30 minutes ahead of time!! Which I feel like is a bit unfair dealing with the circumstances! The food also was very mediocre! Dry and little to no salt.
Some co-workers and I met up there one Friday night and it was so cool. This was my first visit and I will definitely be visiting again. The staff, food, music, and atmosphere were great!!!
This restaurant is in a prime location. I was welcomed upon entry. Very chill. While the food tasted good, I wouldn’t categorize it as Jamaican.
I started eating before I could take the pic, lol. My staple from here is the jerk chicken so tender with white rice and cabbage. I tried the strawberry swirl cream cheese pound cake today. Not sure how I'll avoid going back tomorrow for more! Locally owned and operated. Great food. Friendly service. What more could you ask for?
