The Reynolds Hospice House is a beautiful facility. However, the nursing staff was hit or miss when my mother was there. There were some great nurses at this facility; at the same time, some of the nurses acted as if they didn't need to be bothered by the patients. The business office staff was extremely helpful while my mother was here.
Superb staff who are very caring toward your loved . My father left with dignity and I owe it to Baptis Reynolds. Out of all the multiple nursing homes and hospitals, their staff actually took the time to talk to us in great detail and care for him like he really mattered. The cleaned and bathe him, as well as, greased his body. They turned him, cleaned his wounds, and kept us involved in his care. I’m so grateful that the alerted me of his last hours on earth so that I could lie with him as he passed. He was NOT alone. They also comforted me after his passing and gave us additional hours with him before contacting the funeral home .
My Sister Passed this Morning at 10:15 am. This Staff cannot be commended highly enough. From the Peaceful Surroundings to the caring Staff, every aspect is a Class A Experience. From keeping her pain in check to making us comfortable along the way, the Staff went above and beyond. Many Thanks to this Wonderful Place and Staff. One thing that was unexpected was the Free Food and Refreshments provided for Family and Friends. 24 Hour Access to the Facility is no problem whatsoever. The Deer, Turtles, Hawks etc. That live outside on the Grounds add to the Ambience. Thank God for this Facility.
Facility is beautiful but I recommend that their nurses listen to family when patients have abnormal signs and symptoms. This should not be overlooked or considered a part of their terminal diagnosis because it could be a sign of something unrelated that needs further investigation. I feel like less effort is given when patients are terminal. I also think nurses should be knowledgeable of the medication, side effects, and precautions and drug to drug interactions which is basic nursing.
I am most thankful and indebted to the staff/hospice as they were excellent, thoughtful, and caring during my wife's end journey earlier this year. The joy and compassion from them was wonderful. I once described my wife's care as gentile and dignified. I absolutely recommend Baptist Reynolds Hospice for those facing this tough journey.
If you are researching this place, you are in a hard season. I am sorry. God bless your journey. Our experience here was 90 percent really really good. Our loved one left earth in peace in a lovely setting. Chaplain Wes Brown was an extraordinary help as we processed the tragedy and loss.
Mother began her end of life journey after Thanksgiving 2015. She had just turned 93 years old and had suffered tremendous setbacks in the past 12 years which included multiple cancers, broken bones, strokes, pneumonia, shingles, macular degeneration, loss of hearing and the list goes on. Despite all that she was able to get around with merely a cane. However after our last Thanksgiving dinner the end of life signs became evident. I am in the medical field yet not clinical so I did myself a favor and did everything I could to educate myself on the final journey. Those who refuse to do just that lose out on the beauty of it all. It takes special Angels of God to do what the Baptist Hospice doctors, nurses, aides, social workers, grief counselors, volunteers and even down to the house keeping staff do. In our case Mother’s journey was a 3 month stint. We began with the Baptist “in-home hospice care” for a little over 2 months. They worked with us tirelessly and were at my beckoning call whenever needed always with smiles on their faces and words of comfort for all. When the decision was made that we could no longer care for mother at home, it only took 45 minutes from the time we made the call to the time the ambulance picked her up to transport her to the Baptist Hospice House. She was immediately greeted and assessed by every caregiver there. They were kind and gentle and conscious of not only her needs but our needs as well for our entire stay of 3 weeks. Not all journeys are the same. Some with no pain, some with a lot of pain, some quick, some lengthy. It’s difficult at best to manage the needs of the dying. It takes the experienced to make those decisions without prolonging the evident. There is nothing like losing a loved one but with the help of the caring and loving people at the Baptist Hospice House it made it so much easier for everyone involved. Not only was I blessed to have this facility for my mother, my dear friend passed away 5 years ago of cancer. She was one of the first patients there and our experience then was just as wonderful. I also have several other acquaintances that have passed away there and I have never heard of anyone having a bad experience. As I said before, it takes special Angels of God to be a hospice caregiver and I know the Lord holds a special place in heaven for them.
My family and I could not be more pleased with our experience at this hospice. They were compassionate and receptive to my brothers and the family's need. Obviously, none of us knew what to expect but their care for my brother and our family definitely exceeded our expectations. There are not enough stars nor enough words to articulate our feelings. If my brother had to die, he was surrounded by and in an atmosphere of caring people that made his journey with less pain and more care and love. I definitely recommend Baptist Collierville Hospice without reservation and my family is pretty picky because we all loved and miss my brother.
With my mother-in-law entering the Hospice House, I thought it was going to a very stressful time in our lives. I could not have been further from the true. The nursing Staff and Doctor in charge were not only compassionate to her but the family as well. They took us and her through this journey so that she passed with the dignity that she was accustomed to but for us as well. I cannot thank these angels enough for their help when we needed it.
While no one ever wants to face death, there is no better place. The staff is absolutely excellent. They are there when needed and absent when not. They also realize the family needs them just as much as the patient. There is no better place for your loved one to pass with dignity. They keep the pain as best checked as they can.
