Fascinating state capitol built out of marble. Building was well maintained and the free tour they offer twice a day was very informative and interesting. Neat place to visit if you're into the history of the state or the country.
The Rhode Island State house is one of the most majestic in the entire country. There is obviously a lot of history here, as well as the activity when the legislature is in session. Take the self-guided tour, or sign up for a tour. Be sure to check out the RI Colonial Charter museum on the first floor where you can see the ACTUAL CHARTER from 1663 !
The State Capital hosts a free, hour long, daily tour at 10am and 1pm with a very knowledgeable docent. The tour highlights how the capital building was built, the senate and house functions and lots of details about Rhode Island statehood. Highly recommend visiting if in Providence.
Awesome one hour tour of the state house lead by Ann. Very informative and a great speaker. Was able to answer all the questions that the guests asked her. Awesome.
It's a beautiful building in neoclassical architectural design built in 1901. Located below the crest of Smith Hill in Providence, it houses RI Parliament House, Senate's, and Government offices, including of Governor. Daily 2 guided tours are conducted, which are very informative .May be it's a coincidence that interior resembles the Parliament House of Saschatchewan province of Canada. Strongly recommend visiting it , whenever in Providence.
This building is very appealing to look at. I'm sure there are some important things going on inside, but exterior makes a grand first impression.
Very friendly people in the visitor center. It's worth a short stop, very beautiful marble construction. If you have time for a guided tour, that would be ideal. I did a self guided tour, which was less than 20 minutes. But I think that works as well.
A beautiful statehouse with a lot of helpful employees. I’ve been here on a lot of field trips and have learned something new every time. Tours are very interesting and informative and are open to the public. The amount of marble is almost overwhelming but definitely beautiful. One of my classes was able to take part in a mock debate in the House chambers, an unforgettable experience to say the least. For the smallest state, Rhode Island’s statehouse sure is spectacular. The Independent Man is currently on display for the public before it is sent out to be repaired in early January 2024. Very cool to see, and also saw an informative display on slavery and civil rights in Rhode Island while there to see him. Check it out while you can!
A must-visit attraction in Providence. It’s free and conveniently located next to the Amtrak station.
Beautiful building. We arrived to late to tour the inside. We visited back in April and I noticed that at night/dusk there are lights making for beautiful photos.
