About

Rhubarb is located in the heart of downtown Asheville and open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Sunday Supper is served at 6:30 at communal tables.

Story

Rhubarb, at the heart of Asheville on Pack Square, is a comfortable place for friends, families and strangers to simply lean in and enjoy the company-a place where food and drink is at its uncomplicated best. Gather and share in the power of food and drink and table. The menu is inspired by seasonal, local ingredients and pays homage to the bounty of regional and American cooking. A wood-fired oven and grill complement the rustic creations. Wine selections are drawn entirely from winemakers from who produce using ecologically sustainable practices. The bar pays tribute to the inventiveness of the early 20th century cocktail culture.

Chef John Fleer, a four time James Beard nominee for Best Chef Southeast, strikes an informal, nostalgic and sometimes playful chord with familiar foods designed to nourish and excite. Compose a meal of a wide selection of tasty snacks, savory and sweet, or take the more traditional route and progress from appetizers to a nourishing entrée and finish with a sweet treat by Pastry Chef Ashley Capps.

Each Sunday at 6:30 Rhubarb serves Sunday Supper, a three-course meal at the Rhubarb Family Tables. The Sunday Supper menu differs from the regular restaurant menu and will reflect the bounty of the weekend markets presented family style.

Rhubarb is open for lunch, brunch and dinner. The menu changes frequently and the Sunday Supper menu is posted weekly.

Night owls rejoice! R-bar is now open late from Thursday-Saturday! From 10 p.m. to midnight we will be serving a selection of bar snacks including tot-tine and Moonlight Breakfast favorites. So whether you are winding down after work or need a post-show bite, we can’t wait to see you at the bar!

Favourite spot for a true evolved Southern dining experience. The head chef is brilliant and has cultivated a sweet, rewarding dining experience. You can tell the staff is close, adding to that feeling of Southern charm. Food always blows me away with how thoughtfully crafted it is. Best kept secret is their bar though!

Rhubarb has been both the source of some of the best things I’ve eaten in Asheville and some of the biggest disappointments. It’s almost like two people are running the kitchen, one who way over salted my wife’s fish dish and then the other who prepared the amazing vegetable platter. If they could master consistency, this otherwise beautiful restaurant with great service could really be something special.

Excellent. Menu changes daily and they really pour their heart into every detail. We took guests from out of town and they thoroughly enjoyed. Open kitchen is nice. Try the house rhubarb soda.

Not worth the headache. My husband and I ordered the grilled half chicken with two vegetable sides: chicories and mushrooms. The chicories came out within 10 minutes or so. Thirty minutes later we were still waiting on the main course and the other vegetable dish. By the time the food arrived, we had decided to leave and asked for the bill. The waitress offered to pack the food to go, which we would have considered if we didn't have an early flight the next day. The single dish we tried was really good, but what prompts me to write this review is the bad attitude from the Manager. She approached us with a "what's the deal?" and proceeded to argue that the time stamps on her ticketing system showed something different from the delay we experienced. We had four people sitting next to us, who arrived before us but ordered after we did. They got their food and finished it while we were still waiting on our main course. I have no control over the delay between the time I placed my order and the time it was actually ticketed in the kitchen, the only obvious thing to me was that my food took much longer than that of those sitting next to me. I think this Manager should be aware of that. Condescendingly, she walked away from us mid-sentence when we were telling her that we couldn't take the food because we were visiting from out of town. Really bad touch. Rhubarb was highly recommended, and perhaps the food is good, we'll never know, I just can't bring myself to give them more than one star considering the way the Manager treated us.

Excellent service excellent atmosphere delicious food. Menu was a little small, but we were very late like the last table for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely go back. The duck confit hash was excellent
