About

Friends of the Rialto Library

Story

The Friends of the Library are local residents and business members of the community who value public library service and collectively believe that their library is one of the key elements that make their community a wonderful place to live. They volunteer their time and talent to promote the use of the library, to assist library staff and to raise funds, which are used to enhance library services.

Mission

As our community grows in population, the needs of the library grow in proportion as well. Our library averages over 650 visitors a day. This is a 10% increase over 2010. The economic conditions of San Bernardino County have forced the library system to reduce their hours and lay off stall in a number of libraries. The purchase of books and educational programs has also been reduced.

What can we do to help the library?
Help raise funds that are used to supplement and support programming.
Sponsor cultural activities.
Sponsor/support reading programs for children and young adults.
Volunteer time and talents in support of The Friends of The Rialto Library.

It takes a lot of work by many people all of whom take time from their busy schedule to volunteer to help their community. Where would we be without them?

The Wi-Fi in all the public libraries of San Bernardino seem to allow one on the Internet for only 60 minutes before disconnecting a person. The Internet seems to work well if not for needing to reconnect after an hour.

They are friendly and they go beyond to help you find what you need. This one librarian called me hours later after we couldnt find a book. She was still looking for it online and she was able to order it for me. 😇😇😇

They block Hearthstone. I don't know why. But the internet is pretty fast anyway. It's just too bad this game gets picked on. Doesn't Blizzard have a headquarters around LA?

I have only been there a few times and the workers there are nice but the people that go there can be noisy. I went to study for an exam and the guy in the next booth was blasting a video on his phone. Why would you do that in a library? Also people have their kids screaming and running around. Along with that the Wifi was really bad so I couldn't use my laptop.
