Rib Mountain State Park is a 1528acre Wisconsin state park near the city of Wausau. The park includes a ski resort concession, Granite Peak Ski Area, a reservable amphitheather, and 15.1 miles of trails. The park is ten miles (16 km) north-northwest of Central Wisconsin Airport.

I love taking my boys here in the summer. Lots of very beautiful trails to walk. You can see all of Wausau from the observation tower and my kids love all of the rocks to climb on. Exploring all the trails with my family will be memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Great place to hike, picnic, and enjoy nature. Nice trails and lookout tower. Picturesque views all around too be enjoyed with every season.

My favorite place to ski with in a reasonable driving distance from Chicago. Fast lifts and long runs make it really worth the drive for experienced skiers and snow boarders that can't make it out west. Lift tickets are reasonable and there are plenty of options for hotels in the area. However the chalet food is ungodly expensive. $7 for 4 chicken nuggets expensive. You'd save money leaving the mountain to go visit the nearest amusement park or baseball stadium for lunch.

Granite Peak ski was absolutely wonderful! They did have the snow machines on one day which was kind of annoying but necessary. We learned to go under and around them carefully . The next day it was even more awesome! the staff was fantastic to help with everything from equipment to lessons and food and assisting with everything. My entire group would definitely recommend them highly. The ski hills and lifts are tops in their class. Always look for discounts on ski and stays at local hotels. Military discount also

Prices were a little high for the quality of the skiing itself... but the facility is quite nice. Expect to find quality beers and a nice warm fire in the chalet. Live music, friendly staff and easily accessible.
