My friends and I decided to check this place out in lieu of the other board game places we visit. It was an alright experience. The board game selection was decent; the coffee drinks, while a little expensive, were fine; the food was good. Riddle Room has a very chill atmosphere—it's nothing fancy, but if you're looking to hang with friends it's a great place for it. We did not play any of the escape rooms.

Your one-stop shop for hanging out with friends. Very convenient location, 4 minute walk from Wellesley subway station (and surrounded by restaurants). Escape rooms (decent difficulty) in the back, gaming cafe (board games, console games) in the front. Under construction: PC gaming and additional console stuff. There is no cover charge, but you're expected to at least buy a drink while you're there. Cons: food/drinks were not all that great. (This venue is constantly improving, so I'll update this review as new developments occur.)

Some of us from work did the castle. We solved it with one clue, which seemed obvious after the fact. It was fun, though. I would try another room given the opportunity. Friendly service, and there are board games to play on the Cafe area.

The board game part of the cafe is quite nice, but my 1-star rating concerns the Escape Room. I am fond of escape games and have tried many in the past, in different cities or even countries, and while some are more fun than others, I never regretted my time or money... until this one! The experience was terrible. The staff does not care at all (this is a recurring issue mentioned in many other comments that I wish I had read before booking). The Escape game consists of 3 minuscule rooms, and if the game goes well for you you'll be out of the first two in under 10 minutes, as we were. Then we arrived in the third room where the main riddle is supposed to open a box... which was already open! Only at the end of the game did we realize we should have had to work for this. Then the game was over before we knew it. We mentioned the problem to the staff who could not care less, no apology, no refund, no free drink, nada. Will never go there again!

Riddle Room is a pretty good place to spend time with friends. Their escape rooms are pretty challenging, but at more or less market value ($25 on Fridays and weekends). Only some tables have a console so go early if that's important to you. There are enough board games for a full house so that should not be an issue. Overall, solid place to be if on a budget.
