Dr. Ripley has treated all of my kids. He is an excellent dentist and he has wonderful staff.

I wanted to share my experience with Dr. Ripley. I took my 3 year old son to him a few weeks back for a cavity that I knew he had. Dr. Ripley took a look in his mouth, while my son sat on my lap. Right away Dr. Ripley went right into that the next visit he will do xrays and a cleaning, however he would sedate my son, since he didn't believe he would sit still. And that my son would need a baby root canal. Dr Ripley proceeded to tell me how much all of this would cost me out of pocket, and that his anesthesiologist did not accept insurance, and it would start at $600, and every 15 min after an hours would be an additional $100. Dr Ripley repeated many times how he understands this is a lot of information for me to take in, I sat there in tears so overwhelmed with all of this information. I went to the receptionist who told me that I need to bring in at least $1000, my next visit for sedation. I asked her how to do people pay for this, she said Medi-cal and some take out care credit. I left the office so overwhelmed with all of this and really upset. I spoke with a friend who is a dentist to adults, she checked out my son, and recommended I get a second opinion. After speaking to a few other parents in my community, apparently this Dr Ripley is known for this. Which is really disappointing to hear, especially because Dr Ripley has excellent reviews. I took my son to Kids Care Dental in Roseville for a 2nd opinion. What a difference of an experience. I explained what I was told by Dr. Ripley to KCD. My son sat so still for them to do xrays, he laid in the chair perfectly still while they performed a cleaning on his teeth, and for the Dentist to take a look into his mouth. The dentist we saw at Kids Care, was so friendly and informative. Each staff member made myself and my husband feel at ease, answered all of our questions, and was quite surprised that Dr. Ripley didn't even try to do an xray or cleaning, and was surprised he would even recommend sedation right out of the gate without trying. We just had out 2nd visit with Kids Care last night, same excellent experience, they were able to treat my son's cavity with it only costing me $50 out of pocket. Im sure Dr. Ripley is a nice person, and I know he is very experienced. However, parents these are our children and we have to be their voice. For any doctor to recommend sedation right out of the gate, I would really encourage each of you to get a 2nd opinion. If you are overwhelmed with the price Dr. Ripley's office is quoting you, get a 2nd opinion! Kids Care will do a 2nd opinion appointment at no cost to you! Don't feel like you are trapped and have to use Dr. Ripley's recommendation, always get a 2nd opinion. I'm so glad I listened to others and my gut feelings, I'm really disappointed in my experience with Dr. Ripley's office. I feel that they only cared about the bottom $$ and nothing else. Again I know he has the best reviews, and I know he is experienced. However, it is a very unattractive quality when a doctor is only concerned about the bottom $$, and after speaking with others, hearing that this dentist is known for this routine, get a 2nd opinion! Update: I received a bill from there for $68, when I called to ask what the bill was for I was told it was for a sealant. I explained that they did not perform anything on my son, he sat in my lap the entire time. The lady that answered the phone went back and forth (nicely about it) but then offered to reverse the bill. Today I received a $9 bill, and called once again. I was told that my dental insurance wouldn't cover the entire bill they billed for. Now I know its only $9 and I was willing to pay just to be done all together, but I wanted to know what I was paying for. I explained I've had this dental insurance for over 2 years, and it's incredible insurance, I've never had to pay for a dental visit prior, only fillings. She finally agreed to reverse that as well. After researching sealants, the explanation of the procedure confirmed this office is dishonest with their billing practices.

My kids have no problem going to see Dr. Ripley. He is great with the kids and very patient with even the littlest ones.

Love love love Dr. Ripley. Kind and patient. Couldn't ask for a better dentist for my son
