Growing up in Preston I've gone here tons of times with my family and friends. Some things for people to know. . . this place can be super fun and you can have a good time no matter what. However, it is often not quite as clean as you might want, the small slide has been closed for as long as I can remember, it's a little pricey, and depending on when you go it's possible that not all of the pools will be open. If I were coming from out of town, I would call ahead and verify what pools are open. . . and maybe even call a friend from Preston (if you have one) who could tell you what the current state of the pool is. The cleanliness can vary a lot in a fairly small time frame. As far as hot springs go (in southern Idaho and northern Utah) it really isn't bad. I would just keep my expectations fairly low and then hopefully be surprised by how good of a time I have when I get there.

We drove nearly all day to get here and when we arrived, our whole family was grumpy from spending hours on the road. Within a few minutes of arrival, we all took a quick dip in the mineral pool and magically my four-year-old daughter was cheerful again, my seven-year-old son had an ear to ear grin, and my husband and I felt relaxed and blissful. As we stayed for three days, we had ample opportunity to observe that the resort has been around for a while so there are some cosmetic issues indicating age, but the prices reflect that reality and overall it's a great value! Also Great service from the employees. When we needed assistance figuring out how to use the jetted hot tub in our hotel room, the front desk attendant gave immediate help. She came out to our room with patience and professionalism and showed us what to do. This is a unique type of resort with its natural mineral Hot Spring. The set up and prices make it very family friendly! We will definitely go again.

Under new management and getting things done. Pools are hot springs so the water is really nice and different pools for different wants. The slides are sweet and it is crazy how fast they are fixing and working on making it better. Very relaxing and worth supporting. Also great prices and great location. Swimming can suck when over crowded and this place has tons of space so that doesn't happen.

Seriously considering calling the local health department. Olympic Pool was thick with bugs, grass and other debris. Stairs in the deep end were broken with sharp edges, and the handrails were loose. Pool surface had orange stains and looked quite dirty. Diving board has been removed. Water feed pipes and water-level drains looked like they were just open with no covering. Both therapy/soaking pool surfaces coated in thick black and green slime, and looked like there was a film on the top of the water (This did not appear to be normal buildup from hot spring minerals, which is often calcium-based and hard, not slimy like algae or other organic buildup). One square pool was empty, with a pipe flowing some water which was running into an uncovered drain - not taped off, no other signs posted to warn children to keep out. Inadequate ventilation in the slide tower - gets very hot and the slide is absolutely broiling hot up top, like hard-to-breathe-hot. Trash on the floor and I counted at least 5 wads of chewed up gum on the dripping wet stairs. Not enough water was going down the slide to maintain momentum - you had to push yourself along to avoid collision at the bottom with the person behind you, because they were giving the go ahead too quickly between people coming down. I heard numerous complaints/warnings from various children that the slide will give you a "rug burn" and could plainly see scrapes and red irritated areas on the backs of several boys. I observed one very small child crying that the slide hurt him coming down. One child in our group got a small cut on her leg coming down the faster slide. Bathrooms were not clean, toilet paper in short supply. One toilet missing a tank cover, with bugs and mildew in the bowl. Overall, the facility was more than just "run down" - looked as though no attempts were being made to maintain even basic cleanliness. Frankly, I've used cleaner outhouses (in rural areas of foreign countries...). Exterior of the facility was uniformly dilapidated, and grass was brown and very dry. A couple reviews have asked "What do you expect?" for a rural facility. I'd respond that basic cleanliness is not an unreasonable expectation. Bleach and ammonia are readily and cheaply available even out here. I understand it's under new management, but it's in such a state, perhaps consider shutting it down until basic cleaning and repairs can be finished?

I grew up going to Riverdale and have fond memories of the place. I gave it a 4 because I can see the people running it are doing a great job of bringing it back to its glory days and I appreciate that. I believe given time my rating will switch to a 5. Especially if they keep improving it. Thanks for fun!! My kids love it!
