This place is amazing for kids! No waves, lots of tide pools, and not many rocks. There is ample parking which is only a 2 min walk to the sand. From there, you have 2.5 miles of shore line. The walk into the water is almost completely flat; people were a quarter mile out and were still in calm, knee high water. There is also an adjacent playground, picnic areas, and basketball courts. This beach is a gem, especially coming from the East Bay, which is a 25 min drive from Walnut Creek. Weather tends to be cooler. It was 95F in Walnut Creek, and a perfect 72F at the water. There is some tree shade, but a beach umbrella can be very helpful.

Nice regional park. You can swim here or run (flat). Good for picnics and lots of parking.

Lovely location and facilities. We reserved the Neptune picnic area which had everything we needed including nearby handicap parking. Only 4 stars because LOTS of goose poop. Actual creatures didn't bother us but lawn activities were a little yucky

My family and I went on a very windy day but it was beautiful. The sun was out, the water was warm and the waves are so mild that the kids loved being able to swim very far out and still be safe. We will definitely be back soon and do a bbq or walk a trail or 2 also. It is a beautiful open space.
