Rochelle Ford is a self-taught, ardent metal sculptor who uses recycled metals and other discarded materials to create bold objects of strength and beauty. http://www.metalsculptor.com
A self-taught and ardent metal sculptor, I use an oxyacetylene welding torch to fuse recycled metals and other discarded materials into bold objects of strength and beauty. These pieces spring from an intimate and personal exposure to Syrian, African and American cultures. These cross-cultural influences inspire a sense of pride and gratitude and give face, form and meaning to my work.
Applying organic and industrial materials - steel, copper, brass, feathers, bones, beads, yarn, paint and glass - these mixed media constructions combine elements of sculpture, painting and collage. My reason d’être is to alter old, discarded materials and create new, sensuous and intriguing objects that arouse emotion, thought, discussion and interaction.
You can come by my studio in the Professorville Historical District of Palo Alto to visit the art display in my garden. I also occasionally hold Open Studio where you can see my art both inside and out.
