Came in late September 17 and had a great Indian summer season closer. No showers but potable water next to bulletin board. We got 6 a site with no neighbors and away from the road but the site next to us had the most amazing view of the river...we were alone as we go Sunday night -weds so we cooked breakfast in the site with the view of the majestic North Yuba River. Water is ice cold but it was 90 at 3pm so I was able to tube and the GSD's Harley and Maya wouldn't stay out of the water. A walking bridge takes you across the river a Sandy Beach and river cut perfect to swim and a hiking trail sneaks back and into the mountain. There's a store a half mile away with supplies...they were closed but we survived anyway. Domino's and reggae were played and laughs were in abundance. Sensi beer and family what else can a person ask for....they say Indian summer is a place to find your youth again and I must say I was in a space were time was standing still.

I love this spot but social media has ruined everything.  It's night and day just from last year.  There are probably 4 times as many people this year than last and I expect it to get worse.  Apparently it's ok for pricks to play their loud music both at night and on the river.  These party goers are ruining what should be a peaceful time out.  This is from multiple experiences, not just one.  This is truly frustrating and sad for me.

Great campground by the river. For the most secluded site, reserve site 6.

I've been coming here for almost 15 years every year and it never ceases to be the most amazing place on Earth for me and my family. Cliff jumping, great fishing, sandy beach, hiking, tubing, etc. Rocky Rest will always have a special place in my heart and I can't wait to one day bring my own kids there! Thank you rocky rest. -Daniel
