Great view and quiet area of Anna Maria island. Must try this place

     My husband and his family have been staying at Rod & Reel Motel since he was little. It was and still is a family tradition to come to Anna Maria and stay at Rod and Reel every summer until now. Now, as I've been married for the past 7 years, I get to celebrate the family tradition with my husband and his dad, sister, and family every summer. But, unfortunately, over the past several years, the hotel has gone down hill. And I'm sad to say that this summer was our last stay at this hotel.
     The hotel staff was very rude, inconsiderate, and act as though they didn't want to be there and didn't want us there. The rooms we stayed in were not clean; the floors were sandy, the kitchen countertops dirty, the stove was left on, the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling. Some of our family members stayed in the "suite", but it was far from being a suite; absolutely filthy, I'm wondering now if the linens were even laundered! 
     If there weren't so many of us staying at this hotel, we would have packed up and stayed somewhere else! But, being that there were at least 15 of us staying in 4 hotels there, that would have been hard to do.
     This hotel gets 1 star from me which states "hated it"! Way overpriced and overrated!
