Story

Dr. James Root, originally from Indiana, is a 1975 graduate of Purdue University. He has been practicing small animal medicine in the Goodlettsville area for over 30 years. Even though his practice focuses solely on dogs and cats, Dr. Root enjoys spending his free time on his farm with his cows.

Dr. John Ayers was raised right here in Goodlettsville. He is a graduate of Kansas State University. Dr. Ayers has post graduate training in small animal surgery and orthopedics. He is glad to be back home in Tennessee and looks forward to serving his hometown community.

Being born a Westerner I'm normally short on words and hard to impress.  So, know that I mean every word here.  John Ayers and all the ladies at Root Animal Clinic treat me like family, and have offered their hearts generously when I have been faced with loss.  All of them are competent, intuitive, practical, and just regular folks who are a real pleasure to be around.  I am truly honored to know each one of them, and grateful to my friend Cheryl for pointing me in their direction.  John and his crew have made a HUGE difference in my life, by so compassionately caring for all my pet children...and for me.  I humbly offer them my love and gratitude.  "No bull, just fact."

This clinic has made the biggest difference in our life. They take the best care of our babies. They genuinely care about your pets and even though they see hundreds of animals they remember and check in with you. It has made a lasting impression on my family. We would travel far and wide to bring our animals to Root Animal Clinic!

What a great place to care for your pets. Staff and doctors are among the best in the country. Chewey had to spend the day but Dr. Root and Dr. Ayers got him back to 100% fast.

I moved to the area in February and the first task was to find my new vet.  I have 5 dogs and needed a caring vets office.  Today I had to have my old chocolate lab put to rest and Everyone at Root Animal clinic were so good to me.  Dr. Ayers is wonderful and he put my mind at ease and let me know it was his time.  Forever grateful
