years ago I called Roto-Rooter to unclog a pipe.  It turned into a pretty big job and I was charged $150.  I was very happy at that time.  Yesterday I had another clogged pipe, so I called Roto-Rooter again.  The response time was excellent as the plumber arrived within 2 hours. This time when he arrived I was quoted a price of $370. I was shocked by the price. I was forced to haggle with the guy in my bathroom and he told me that he doesn't do anything for less than $250 because he said, "I have to make money too".  As I suspected the job took him 10 minutes which pro rates to $1500 an hour. I'm OK with paying a minimum for plumbing services, but I think $370 or even $250 is ridiculous. The service and response time were terrific, the price however will keep me from using Roto-Rooter again.
