Cute little store with a bar inside. It’s good for a quick grocery shop or for ready-made food to eat right away. You can expect prices to be a little higher since it’s a small store downtown, but it is convenient. One downside I want to mention is that when my friend asked for a slice of pizza after the woman at the counter had just boxed up some raw sausage for us, she didn’t change her gloves. Pizza slices shouldn’t be meeting raw sausage before consumption…
I just had to show some love for my favorite place to get pizza. Living down the street, I always prefer to get my pepperoni pizza from here. Today I wanted some change and Chef Frank really took his time to make a fantastic, unique and absolutely delicious pizza for me. I decided I’d check out the bar while I wait for the pie and the bartender was great also. Such an amazing place to appreciate with a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks again Chef, this really was the best part of my long day. : - Steph
*Finally* made it to Rovino the Foodery to use the generous gift card my cousin gave me. Anna from Sicily was amazing, totally helping me discern best options for my food plan! Food was super yummy -- spicy sausage and perfectly seasoned veggies. My partner had the meatballs, which was good since I choose not to currently hence food plan Grateful again for the very thoughtful gift!!
A robust Italian market with snacks, pastas, sauces, spreads, pre-cooked meals, and wine. If you're sourcing some authentic Italian ingredients, check this place out! However, be prepared to drop some cash to get what you need. We came in under the influence of how they supposedly won "Best Sandwich in San Diego" the past 3 years. 2 out of 3 in our party got the winning sandwich and said it was nothing special though, so that was a bust. Sandwiches are subjective, so take that with a grain of salt. For 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks the total was $80. The gelato machine was out of order, so we couldn't soften the blow with that. Overall it was more than a bit steep for some SANDWICHES. Probably won't return to eat, but may come back to get some specialized grocery items.
The food is usually more than half way decent. However the people behind the counter are completely incompetent. 5 consecutive times now I've ordered on the phone and 20 minutes later when I arrive it's not ready or even started and this most recent time I "must have called the other location". The deli workers don't know what they sell or what things are called. Each time I go in no one knows what a chicken cutlet is but sell chicken Parm. The items made to order have fallen apart in my hand and are often wrong. I feel like I need a lobotomy each time I go. Good products, good food, extremely poorly run. Gave them many chances and each time I'm dumbfounded even more than the last.
The pizza here was delicious and their spicy Parmesan fries were awesome. This restaurant is located in a beautiful little store filled with imported Italian items. I would love to go back here again.
This place has a lot of authentic Italian food and cooking needs. They have everything from gelato to wine. You can grab food to make, to eat for takeout or even dine in. They have a lot of great items you might not be able to find at a normal grocery store. Just a little more expensive so be advised.
Love Rovino, a slice of Italy downtown. The creamy pesto tortellini was amazing, freshly made cheese tortellini rich creamy basil pesto. For dessert just a few steps over at the gelato counter a cup of rich dreamy tiramisu gelato. Picked up a Caprese w/ prosciutto sandwich and fresh made cannoli for dinner. Nice selection of locally made and Italian imported groceries
RoVino The Foodery is such an incredible addition to the East Village. The largest Italian Market in downtown San Diego, offers freshly made pastas, cheeses, meats, sandwiches, wine, Italian cookies, desserts and a sit down restaurant. The restaurant has a great happy hour during the week. *PRO TIP** order the meatball sandwich, it’s the best I’ve had!
A must visit Italian Store in San Diego, with a variety of Italian sauces, a range of fine wines and alcohol drinks. They have ice cream corner, a deli sandwiches and Italian food as well. The store is clean and is worth your time and money. Love this store. If are looking for a Vegan Chocolate then, this is your store, love it
