Royal Myanmar is a real treat. A little pricey, but is great. I ordered the shrimp tempura and Philly roll with fresh salmon. Both were fresh and well wrapped. I also got the dumplings and the spring rolls. They were out of a few things but food was good. The mango milkshake was not. Very little taste.
Friendly and helpful staff and incredible food! Definitely try the tea leaf salad. Sushi was well prepared and fresh. My wife also really enjoyed the mohinga soup as well. Not sure how, but this place was empty on a Friday night at 7!
A truly excellent restaurant in West View. I ordered the golden shwe ji semolina cake, Pad Thai, tofu fritters, and fresh spring roll. Everything was reasonably priced and had great portions. The Pad Thai had both shrimp and chicken, which I always appreciate! I asked for the plate without scallions, and they honored that request. The noodles were still warm when I got them and the portion was amazing. Plenty of chicken a few shrimps, too, but not too much. The sauce was lightly sweet and flavorful. My only criticism would be that there weren't enough peanuts, but that's a minor point. The two appetizers I got were both great. The roll is filled well with lots of veggies, and it's a great healthy option. The dipping sauce is chunkier than usual, but has a great balance of sweet and savory. The tofu fritters are delightful. Slightly spicy sauce, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They don't have a strong flavor, but I'd say these chickpea fritters are significantly better than regular tofu fritters. Finally, I fell in love with the semolina cake. It reminded me of the dessert I had at Spice Island Tea House. The raisins were a nice touch. The portion is fantastic for just $5! Creamy, sweet, soft, and warm. Absolutely perfect. All in all, I'd return here again when in West View. In fact, I'd recommend going out of your way to drive 30 Minutes if you have to because the food is so good and they have unique menu items! I look forward to more shwe ji and trying some satay, samosas, bread pudding, and other items.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant! It is such a hidden gem in West View. My family’s go to order is West View Roll, Coconut Chicken Curry, Kone Baung Pork, and Thai Iced Tea. It is all so amazing and if I could I would eat it every night if the week! Picture of our almost finished meal since we never get pictures before digging in.
Not decorated amazingly, but the food is top tier. Samosas we're great, pad Thai great, and the Myanmar soup was great. Tried a Myanmar tea and it was amazing. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.Food: 5/5
The soups are so delicious, hugs in a bowl! Get the fermented tea leaf rice salad if you love savory food. Service was great, prices affordable!
We enjoy Royal Myanmar restaurant verry much. Many rice and noodle dishes; big fans of pickled ginger salad. Nice sushi menu--the west view roll will get every the diehard sushi skeptic to rethink their position. A favorite.
affordable, delicious and unique food! if you ever need a hug in a bowl, the coconut chicken noodle soup is what you're looking for! flavorful, silky, comforting, and warm :
Started with Myanmar tea, very delicate and smooth on the palate. Combination sampler was great, the homemade Tofu was outstanding with the sauce. No-go on the salad with ginger sauce, just not my zone. Main course was semi spicy chicken curry in coconut with white rice, so good. Chicken spiced beautifully and tender. I love rice, so, it was grand. After main course, ordered afterwards appetizer, Cali roll, was very pleasing. Hand made before my eyes. Very flavourful. Ending with another Myanmar tea and a wheat cake that, in my opinion, reminded me of Central American Flan, but with that unique flavor from the other side of the globe. The staff is great. Hardworking people that go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy the food. Thank you.
I can't vouch for other menu items because I pick only Myanmar/Burmese dishes when I'm here! I love Royal Myanmar because it's the only place in Pittsburgh with a more extensive Myanmar/Burmese dishes on the menu. The taste is authentic and delicious. Their chickpea tofu tohu is crispy on outside and creamy inside. I've had it in salad and by itself and they're both yum. The Mohinga Burmese Fish Chowder and Ohn No Kauk Swe Coconut Chicken Noodle soup are also delicious and comes with split pea fritters. I haven't had Lahpet Thoke fermented tea leaf salad but I've had their Laphet Htamin Fermented Tea Leaf rice and it was so good! Also check out the size of the Thai Iced Tea! I will be back again and again!
