I lived in Nashville during the rise in popularity of hot chicken. This compares well. The chicken was excellent. The fries were crispy and fresh. The heat hot option was not that spicy, which is good for someone who had to go back to work. Also, friendly service and a cool patio literally and figuratively.Food: 5/5
This place truly has my favorite chicken sandwich ever. I travel to Louisville once per month for work and I look forward to it every time because I know it means I’ll be getting a Royals Hot Chicken Sandwich. The ranch is delicious and has diced pickles in it! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.Food: 5/5
I was in town for a conference and the last day I was here, I decided I needed to get some exercise in. I figured it would be a great idea to walk a mile from the Hyatt Regency to Royals so I could indulge in some guilt free nom noms. Turned out that the 20 minute walk there and back was totally worth it! Talk about the juiciest, most tender chicken tenders ever, and the outside crust was equally amazing. On top of that, the sauces such as Alabama White sauce and BBQ took the tenders to another level. If I lived in Louisville, this place would be on my most frequented restaurants list, for good and bad
My partner and I ate lunch here today 3/16/24. The chicken tenders were delicious! Crinkle cut fries were also fantastic. Service was very quick and the outdoor seating area was a great place to enjoy the nice weather and great food.Food: 5/5
Fabulous hot chicken! The Xtra hot chicken tacos were mouth-tingling delicious. Their regular hot sauce is at the level of a buffalo sauce. The coleslaw has some diced celery in it which gives it a great taste and crunch. And their broccoli bacon slaw is scrumptious as well.Food: 5/5
I had the hot chicken sandwich meal with spicy potato wedges. Great meal. They cautioned me that the extra hot was really spicy but I was actually a little disappointed. The flavor was fantastic but definitely not spicy at least not what I consider spicy. Next time I'm getting gonzo. By comparison I would say that Royals Extra Hot is less spicy than Hattie B's regular hot. The restaurant itself is a cozy place and seems to keep a decent crowd. I visited on a rainy Saturday and thankfully there was no line when I walked through the door but a flood of people poured in a few minutes later so be prepared to wait in line. Don't expect to park directly in front of the restaurant. There is a paid lot nearby but I would recommend looking at least a few blocks down if you want to park on the street. Overall it was a nice experience. Looking to forward to my next visit. Parking: Difficult to find parking directly next to the restaurant. Expect to walk a few minutes from wherever you park.
Great customer service! I had so many questions and our cashier was so helpful! Food was pretty quick. Sauces were great! I’m not a big fan of Nashville hot seasonings, so I would steer clear of the “hot” fries if you’re like me. Great experience!Food: 3/5
I asked a friend, where's some good fried Chicken, with no hesitation he said Royals, and he was right. This place is absolute fire, the chicken, the sauce, the fries, the potatos, the drink selection, my one complaint is that they don't have Honey Mustard, THAT'S IT. You go in, you order at the counter, you only have a few choices, you sit down, not even 10 minutes later the food comes, looking fresh, tastes absolutely amazing, and you get to chill in a nice lil seating area, inside or outside. Def my new "That chicken place". You also get to pick how spicy you want your chicken, I went with "Hot" and it wasn't spicy but friend went with the one above and he was getting spiced.
Had the monthly special. Pimento Honey Buffalo Fried Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was crispy outside and soft inside. It held up pretty well. I chose crinkle cut fries as the aide. It was all very good. I think the price was a few bucks over what I would have liked to oay but comparable to similar places. It's more like finding your seat and waiting for someone to bring the food but other than that, there's no service. I tipped but not sure I should have. I'd go again but given the price points relative to the food received, it's not a place I would frequent.
Awesome place! The staff wasn't just friendly but they went above and beyond. Grabbing a bite to eat turned into one of the highlights of our Louisville visit. The food is amazing! Fresh, quality, delicious! The gonzo sauce is no joke! I had to get a milkshake to recover. The milkshake was also delicious... Once my tongue recovered.
