Story

Early January 2002 marked the opening of Safe & Secure Storage, Wythe Counties 1st climate controlled storage units. As a matter of fact the BEST KNOWN climate controlled storage units within a 75-mile radius.

"My wife and I were prompted to pursue this project after seeing the units in larger cities", said Dave Turner, who also owns and operates Wythe Sheet Metal, INC. in Wytheville, Va. Due to the growth in Wytheville and Wythe County we saw a definite need for this type of service in our area. According to him, being in the business of heating/cooling and humidify control this project seemed like something they should pursue.

The climate-controlled environment assures the items stored are in a much more moderate temperature - not a fluctuation between extreme heat/cool. Dave and his wife Robin decided to build their storage units beside the existing Wythe Sheet Metal Location on 735 E Lexington Street.

With an emphasis on safety and security, the building is surrounded with special lighting, video surveillance and card access entry to the climate controlled units. Since opening, both businesses and individuals have indicated a need for the climate controlled units. With uses ranging from business records, electronics, antiques, collectibles, furniture, food storage and pharmaceuticals. There are presently 7 outside non climate units, with 37 inside climate controlled units, ranging in sizes from 5' x 10' to 10' X 20'.

"Now that the units have succeeded as we anticipated, we are looking forward to our son William D. Turner III to build an additional building within the next year", added Turner.
