This store is horribly mismanaged. They don't have enough employees or something and refuse to get self-checkout lanes. More often than not over the last few months, the checkout lines all literally have 5-10 people in them, and they move excruciatingly slowly. This might be due in part to their having credit card chip readers but not supporting Apple Pay/android pay/etc (chip readers suck, mobile pay is super fast and easy - chip reader malfunctioned once and then asked me three times if I wanted to get cashback; it's a slow and clunky payment method at best).

Everyone knows Safeway has high prices - it's surprising that they want us to pay more for a significantly crappier experience. 

To the Safeway in Erie: If you can't find new hires, offer more money. Get some self checkout-lanes. If you don't do something, you will lose all your customers, especially considering a brand new king soopers is opening in a week or two in Erie. My wife and I won't be shopping here again unless something changes. 10-15 minutes in a checkout line is unacceptable (and this is the rule now at this location, not the exception).
