Beautiful, modern, relaxing atmosphere. The lamb and tandoori are amazing. If you love biryani this place has really great options. I'm coming back here next week!

My bf's mom bought a $55-groupon for a $103.70-worth combo meal--2 appetizers+4 entrees+4 glasses of house wine. Not knowing that the deal included wine, you could already imagine that we were having personal-bubble-popping conversations around sensitive topics after gladly accepting the alcohol.

Our appetizers were vegetable samosas and Palak Bhaja (I wish I knew how to pronounce this correctly). My bf really liked Palak Bhaja, and I thought it was really similar to Korean vegetable fries. It was really interesting to see that different cultures have independently been trying similar cooking styles, given similar ingredients, even though the food at Saffron, some may say, are technically Indian American.

For the entrees, the family and I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Shahi Korma, a shrimp specialty, and a vegetarian specialty (I don't remember the exact names). We ordered a basket of Naan, even though it wasn't included in the groupon. I really liked trying the chicken-cashew combination (Shahi Korma), but all of the dishes were on the sweet side, which I'm usually not thrilled about for main meals of the day. If you don't mind sweet dishes, like my bf, Saffron food will taste great. 

Overall, the food was very filling and everyone was tipsy-cheerful by the time the check came along. It's definitely in my top 5 Indian restaurants in NY, but I still need to try other Indian restaurants to pinpoint its placement. The waiter kindly explained the groupon deal twice, and the food was served at the right time. 4.2

LOVE THIS FOOD! Saffron is my go-to place for delicious authentic Indian cuisine. The food is super fresh and always tasty (I request "medium spice" and it is perfect for me- well-seasoned, with just a bit of heat). Best Mulligatawny soup I've ever had (and it's veggie!). Delish okra, too.
Great deals for a lot of yummy food for lunch specials, happy hour, and Thali meals at dinner time. 
The hostess/waitstaff are genuinely kind and quite helpful for newbies :)
