Unique little pizza place. Lots of cool decor on the wall and a pretty cozy atmosphere. The server was very attentive.Food: 4/5
This place came highly recommended so when our 24th anniversary rolled around we decided to celebrate with our favorite two things, pizza and beer. The restaurant itself is very small with a strong Italian vibe right down to the red checkered tablecloths. Open concept kitchen and bar with famous Italians adorning the walls in all their glory. We walked in at 1730 on a Saturday night and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table inside. They were clearly very busy with their takeout window as well. We were seated in a cramped corner, no complaints it totally fit the vibe, and the waitstaff had our drinks on the table within minutes. We ordered wings, chicken alfredo, and two pizzas. Wings were okay, pasta was overpriced and also just okay, but the pizza was amazing!! And the beer was cold. We will definitely be back for the pizza and beer. Molto bene!!
We were craving some pizza while on vacation. We found THE PIZZA! Located a few miles from the place we were staying, and settled in a very nice, cozy shopping center. We sat outside in the covered patio. The weather was bad, but the enclosure made it comfortable. The inside of the place was super pizzaria looking. Service was great. The patio is a bit tight but we made it all work. The pizza was delicious. Thin and tasty. The crust was the right amount of chew. I just had an hour-old left over piece and it was everything you want in left over pizza action. Very impressed and will return next time I visit "SSI" as I have heard the cool kids say. Parking: Seems like a decent amount of spaces. I think I was fortunate to get a spot right in front of the alley Sal's is on.
Pizza is my favorite food. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert. Put them together with a great Caesar salad, and I've reached Italian Nirvana. Sal's is a local restaurant that makes pizza right. Sal himself has been inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame so it's like you're being served NY-style pizza by Rocky Balboa. The server told me that, on Memorial Day weekend, the line for a table was down the sidewalk. It was a 90-minute wait, and no one batted an eye at the estimate. I have no reason to doubt her: Every bite was delicious. Thanks, Sal's, for great food, great service and a great atmosphere.
3-12-2023 update - something has changed with Sal's in the last couple of months. We dined there tonight and the entire staff was new and all of our favorite staff are suddenly gone. The food was unfortunately room temperature and wasn't great like it normally is. For almost 3 years this has been our favorite spot for Italian food but now we aren't sure if things will be as good as they were. Original post:. Very, very good food! Nice cozy atmosphere with great music and awesome service! It's a must go place for great Italian. Sal's keeps getting better every time we visit.
Food was great, service was good. They were busy so we had to sit on front porch. I like outside dining but the chairs did not match the table in height and was not comfortable.Food: 4/5
We ordered a Napoletana and it was decent. Excellent crust, too heavy on the sauce and too light on the cheese. The toppings ended up being unbalanced. They could ease up on the oregano for a more subtle balanced flavor profile. The capers were a nice touch. The menu prices are insanely high for what you get.Food: 3/5
A very warm and welcoming family-friendly atmosphere, whether your stopping by the bar for a drink or two after work or want a full course meal with the family. The staff are so attentive and the food is beyond amazing. Get the Honey BBQ wings; you won't be disappointed,. Slightly spicy with BBQ at just the right sweetness. We had a Christmas dinner party tonight with some friends and it was a wonderful experience overall. Normally around the holidays if we do decide to wait out a long line or book a reservation we still feel semi rushed as we order and eat our food due to the fast-paced nature of today's world. Tonight we ate at our own pace, chit chatted, took pictures, and just got to enjoy each other's company. Thanks Again Sal's
Had a large pizza with half and half and it was legit, the best pizza, I’ve had, ever. So, there you go. If that helps. Staff was great and loved the pictures of Sal and watching them make the pizzas. We will be back, thank you for the great food!
A little over priced for a mom and pop. I like the option of a slice. Baked ziti is ok. Had a server that bothered us like every 5 minutes. I don’t know if it’s a south thing but the pizza crust is a thing, it’s just missing the mark. Sal’s has that Italian family owned vibe with Sal’s boxing posters all over the walls. Vegetarian options: Make sure you clarify with your server your diet restrictions. I said no meat and she asked me if I wanted a meat sauce on my ziti.
