Salem Church is a member of the United Church of Christ, a mainline denomination in the Reformed tradition.

Story

For more than one hundred fifty years, Salem Church has been a beacon of faith in the City of Tonawanda. We continue to provide opportunities for worshiping God through the ministries of service and Christian education.

We are a friendly congregation with ministries to people of all ages. We are a family-based church with exciting programs for children and youth and many opportunities for adult fellowship. Come see all that Salem Church has to offer. We just might be the church you have been looking for!

Mission

Our Congregation tends to be theologically moderate. The emphasis of worship and Congregational life rests on a ministry of love and support rather than ideology. Sunday worship and the sermon are usually based on the texts of the New RSV Common Lectionary, and contain an inspirational message meaningful to our lives today. Every Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service there is a children’s message, following which the children attend Art and Children's Choir. A strong music program featuring the Adult and Children's Choirs support our worship services. Our pipe organ is complemented by an electronic keyboard. Frequently, the musical talents of members of the Congregation are featured. Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. From September through June we have two worship services, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 10:30 a.m. During the summer one service only is conducted at 9:30 a.m
