The Director, Ms. Sue, IS A SAINT!! I love this woman!! Herb is a real life Santa Claus and the kitchen staff are so sweet they will accommodate you if you have any food allergies. They will go out of their way to make something JUST FOR YOU! In the women's area, most of the women chip in, do their chores and are generally friendly. Of course you'll run into the ones that use their SSI/SSDI;selling food stamps for meth or crack. These are the ones that start fights and get the cops called. The cops aren't called often as the Salvation Army likes to try to handle things without involving the police, which is good, because the cops are seriously useless in Asheville. I have never seen such unprofessional, rude, degrading, obsessed with harassing anyone that looks homeless type of cops!! Off topic sorry lol. They are so kind with Thanksgiving, so many people volunteer to serve the turkey, mashed potatoes and OMG THE DESSERTS!! You eat so well at this place, and anywhere in Asheville really. If you choose you can get involved with their church. They drive you there and you get to meet new people. The curfew isn't bad, its 11:00 pm I believe, which is very reasonable, and they do make accommodations for people who work late. I was able to stay there for 4 months and because I had NOTHING, no money, no job, no family, didn't know ANYONE because I'm not from there; nothing, I didn't have to pay the regular fee. Ms. Sue you are an angel and I miss you and the kind staff!!! God bless all of you who are kind and patient, I had given up on life when I came to you guys. Thank you Ms. Terri for always being so kind to me when I had to go to the ER several times being sick, helping me up and literally carrying me to the ambulance. God bless you Sue, you are truly a Saint!!!

Would have never gotten back on my feet without them. The staff is so nice and will do anything to help you get straightened out as long as you try to get on your feet...Miss Terri, Miss Sue, Mr Herb, Ronnie, Tony, Antonio ..

Service was prompt. Truck was staffed with two polite men. They were courteous and professional. They Arrived in their trademarked Truck with the shields on it so I knew it was really the right ones. Thanks for the good work. I will use you again. I recommend the Salvation Army as my Charity of choice for donation of used goods.
