San Buenaventura Mission: Ninth and last founded by Blessed Junipero Serra among California's 21 Missions. Now a vibrant Catholic parish of 2800 members.

Story

The beautiful Mission, named the first canonical parish in Southern California by Bishop Francisco Diego y Moreno in 1843, continues to serve as an active Catholic parish within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The Mission grounds include Holy Cross School (PreK - 8th Grade), a museum and gift shop. The Church and Mission Garden are open to visitors daily from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

It is small but gorgeous.. I loved the little garden area so calming and peaceful. The church is beautiful and I saw two lovely nuns walking around.. Everything is well preserved and maintained and authentic just beautiful..

Nice small Museum, and the church is nice to see. Gardens are beautiful . Near the downtown . Please respect the church . Admission is a small fee to help preserve this old Mission .Alot to see, lots of small shops that surround the area.

Beautiful church with much history. $4 entry fee. Small museum. Great video. Very nice gift shop with some lovely items...one of the better ones at the missions.

One of the smaller missions but well maintained. You get the quiet environment you need to meditate and pray. It is within the city close to commercial district, restaurants, parks, etc.
