This is my second time visiting this particular DMV, and it is excellent as always! We moved here from Ohio, so our first visit consisted of 2 driving tests, 2 drivers licenses and a vehicle registration. We were only here 2 hours, from start to finish - this includes standing in line. We had both our young children with us, and the employees engaged them with smiles and offered them paper and pens to color on! They really worked hard to get us in and out as fast as possible. Obviously it is crowded, but I hear not nearly as crowded as other DMVS.

The line is to the door and they have one lady serving appointments and non appointments. Two lines with 1 person serving both lines. About 60-80 minute wait from door. They could seriously hire 2-3 people to service the people who pay a lot of money to the DMV and State They have 15 windows to service customers but only 4 are open with line out the door and seats fully seated with people waiting. Took over 2 hours of waiting in line before I could apply for another ID card. Update they only have 2 car examiners this week for driving tests and a huge line for cars along with motorcycles waiting to be tested. Line is out the door again, seating area is full and about 30% of the counters are open. They operate at about 30% efficiency here. By hiring more people it would lower unemployment numbers, make people waste less time, make people happier, make new employees happy as they would have job and money to spend which in return helps the local economy in San Clemente. Does not require Einstein when seating area is full of people waiting with line out the door to open remaining 70% of the empty counters which have no one seated to help the people seated waiting to be served.

They need to have more people working here they only have one person in the window giving out ticket numbers and 3 people helping on what we need. There's no point on making a appointment if you still have to wait to be called. Get more people to help so we don't have to spend a lot of time here.

After spending 2 hours yesterday at DMV (and actually had a fine experience and the reason for the second star), I made a mistake on a form to be returned today. I went to get a form and the line was out the door. I walked around to see if I could find forms and then I see what I need beside the check in desk but out of reach. I kindly requested to the man sitting there if he could hand me the form. He "loudly and rudely" told me that there were 150 people in line (which I stood in the day before patiently) and I should get in the line to get the form (which by the way was so close to him that he wouldn't even have to move his chair or extend his arm all the way). In the time it took for him to tell me that, he could have reached over to hand me the form. The bad thing is that there are no name tags and I had to get to another appointment so speaking with a supervisor was out of the question. Although, I probably would have had to stand in the line to file a formal complaint. Fortunately, I stepped to the side of the check in desk and asked another lady if she could kindly hand me the form. Granted, she was busy too and she actually had to walk over and get the form in which she did without question. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and treat/talk to people how I want to be treated/talked to. So, proof is that not everyone at the DMV is nasty (as proved by the lady) but come on....we are all busy people and need to be treated kindly or maybe you shouldn't be in customer service.
