About

Preserving the art, history and culture of the San Fernando Valley since 1943.

Story

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society was founded on July 4, 1943. Its purpose is to research, collect and preserve the history, art and culture of the San Fernando Valley. To link the past, present and future, the Society strives to offer a variety of programs that will educate and entertain the public.

The Society is caretaker of the Andres Pico Adobe, one of the oldest homes in the City of Los Angeles. The Adobe's interior houses a museum of San Fernando Valley history, featuring exhibit galleries, a research library, photographic archives, meeting room, and small souvenir sales area.

The Society offers educational programs, field trips, commemorative celebrations, publications, museum tours (including group tours for adults and school classes), volunteer opportunities, as well as many other activities.
