There are 4 things I look for when choosing a veterinarian.  First, the front office staff must be pleasant.  They are the ones that set the tone for the entire time spent at the office.  Second, the place must be clean - that says a lot about the quality of care you can expect.  Third, I must see that the veterinary staff truly cares about the animals - a good "bedside" manner is a must.  Sometimes it takes trying a few different medical protocols to find a solution - but being willing to try and consult with other veterinarians shows they are not proud and truly have the interest of the animal as their first priority.   Fourth, the prices must be reasonable.  The staff and doctors at Sand Canyon Animal Hospital meet all four and are a great addition to the neighborhood.  (And, the parking is really easy to find around the clinic!)

If you are looking for a vet that is caring and loves animals please GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
My cat had mastitis and the wound had opened.  I went in to get it cleaned out and stitched up. The vet looked at the cat and said she needed major surgery to clean out all the damaged tissue.  He told me if I did not do the surgery the cat would die of infection because it was all in her bloodstream.  I told him I did not have 500.00 for the surgery and he sent me home believing my cat will soon be dead.   I went to another vet in Acton the following day and he said she looked great and the wound was healing very nicely.  stitched her up, gave her some antibiotics and off we went.  She is doing great today.  No sign of infection at all and is nursing her kittens.  Very disappointed in the clinic.  There are too many caring vets out there to waste time with this one.

The vet was extremely nice to me and my dog Max. Max had been dealing with skin problems for what seems forever and I had gone to different vets around Santa Clartia but none are as comparable as the vet here. The vet was super generous and caring for Max. My dog is fortunately doing way better and i couldnt thank the friendly folks at Sand Canyon enough for their contributions towards Max’s happinesses
