Similar experience- ravaging of account with no observation of code status, tract use, or even owner. Abuse of time limits to file documentation, and elderly rights. Truly a disgrace to those who take pride in owning land here in NM.

Absolutely atrocious job in updating property values and other records. I was overcharged hundreds of dollars in taxes for years. They don't bother to update their owner records in a timely fashion after a sale. Currently I have a 'DELINQUENT" tax bill that belongs to the buyer of my former property and not me. All taxes that I owed were paid during the closing last year. But I have been informed by the Treasurer's office that the bozos at the Assessor's Office won't bother to update their records until the end of this year. If it was possible to rate them as a NEGATIVE 5, I would. Unbelievably inept. Tom Garcia needs to be replaced in the worst way possible. Get your people to do their jobs: update records in a timely fashion and update property values so that the Treasurer's office is not gouging owners for taxes on properties that have SEVERELY declined in value.. I have no words for how disgusted I am about my dealings with this office.
