I've been with Sandy Spring 10 years. I was with a credit union before but Sandy Spring's service is just as personal. Their online banking is usually all I need, and when I do go into the bank, they're quick and friendly. My business and checking accounts are free. An acquaintance of mine once told me that Sandy Spring wasn't aggressive enough in its investments and missed opportunities for profits, but that acquaintance later lost all his savings in a scam. I like my bank boring and predictable. Plus Sandy Spring has a diverse clientele and staff, which I appreciate. A good bank for Marylanders.

Sandy Springs Bank is not the bank for the average person. Sandy Springs only wants to make more and more money behind many hidden and outlandish cost to build more and more bigger branches. While doing business with this company make sure that you read every single peice of paper that is mailed to you (expecially the fine print), read every posting on the walls of the branch. I will never ever do business with this company again!

SSNB is definitely experiencing significant growth pains transitioning from primarily a Montgomery County community bank to a much larger regional bank. I've banked there personally for 46 yrs, and red tape, confusion and fees have become overly burdensome. A recent simple over-the-phone $200 debit transaction to pay a subordination fee was inexplicably lost even after I got a confirmation it was completed. My biz banking is there also, but I was forced to diversify with Eagle Bank because of challenges with SSNB that disappeared at Eagle. My recent mortgage refi, small personal loan, and business credit lines all had to be placed with other banks. I also found out today that I paid a $10 fee for a cashiers check recently, which was not supposed to be charged to me as a Premier account holder. On the bright side; the local branch I deal with has tried harder in recent months to make things smoother.
