The elected office of Tax Collector was established in the 1885 Florida Constitution based on the idea that local taxes could best be collected at the local level. As an independently elected officer, the Tax Collector is more responsive to the people.

Our offices are responsible for collecting property, business and tourist taxes. We handle motor vehicle, vessel and manufactured home titles & registrations. We issue drivers’ licenses, ID cards, hunting & fishing licenses and disabled parking permits.

As license and car registration departments go this place is fantastic.  Well organized, fast, efficient, and helpful. Take a number, never more than 10 minutes!

Having just moved here, I was not looking forward to changing my driver's license and registering for a Florida plate. My experience was just the opposite. I did not have to wait in a long line and was seated immediately with a very courteous and professional service rep, Cassandra. All in all, in about thirty minutes, I had my new license and a Florida plate for the car. Key was having all the paperwork I needed with me, old license, birth certificate, social security card, and a document proving my new address.  They verified my VIN and mileage on the spot and I got to park in the lot right across the street instead of the garage a block away. And to top it off, I was able to initiate voter registration. It was refreshing to have a bureaucratic encounter that was pleasant and stress free.

I've never gone to a dmv that was so organized! I got my Florida State license and our plates changed all within an hour and that's because we had to run out to our vehicle and get our paper work for our car.  Catina was so helpful and I actually was happy to be at a dmv/ tax collector! ^_^ oh and I also got registered to vote! Best dmv ever! I'm very impressed and these people deserve some sort of reward for being so organized and helpful. ^_^ thank y'all!

This is by far the very best tax collector's office in the state of Florida, they actually help you there not just pass you along.....
