Best hardware store ever. I've had them wait on me, cheerfully, for 20 minutes for a 20-cent item. Staff is super knowledgeable, from the paint department to plumbing to hardware, and everyone in between. Super well-staffed, too. Always someone to answer your question. I always go here before Lowe's or Home Depot. Feel great about giving them my business. Customer for over 20 years. In fact, I've recently moved a bit further away, and I still drive the extra couple miles to go here.

Judging by the treatment I received during my most recent and previous visits to this particular Ace Hardware, I'm under the impression that they don't take kindly to "brown" faces. I was never asked if I needed help with anything(which I did) and when I went to ask one of the associates for help, he ignored me and fell all over himself to help the caucasian gentlemen. When I finally found the items I was in search of, I happened to notice 2 employees watching me as I made my final selection and again, they made sure to ask everyone else if they needed assistance but never asked me.. I'll be sure to take the hint this time and take my money elsewhere, probably a larger hardware store that could care less about the color of your skin and more about the color of money you are spending. This place belongs back in the 50's possibly 60's when Oak Park was a "sundown" town. It's 2017 and its a shame that places like this still exist.

This store is the bestest! The only times they let me down are when A: They change the layout of the store and I have to ask where something is. That costs me about 30 extra seconds :) or B: When I really doubt they have it in the first place because it's something that no other local store would have. Overall, fantastick customer service and great prices. My go-to store for over 20 years!
