Scholten Fant

Story

Scholten Fant was formed when Harvey L. Scholten and Howard W. Fant became partners (after years of solo practice) in 1957. The firm grew dramatically in the 1960s, when five new younger attorneys joined the firm and determined to each specialize in particular areas of the law. The fact that three of these five attorneys are still active partners today, and that a fourth passed away while in active practice with the firm, is illustrative of the stability and long term commitment of the firm’s attorneys.

Today, as a result of steady growth, the firm employs 20 attorneys and approximately 18 support staff at its offices in Grand Haven and Holland. A staff of 20+ attorneys allows them to specialize in the areas of the law they are most interested in while, at the same time, permitting the firm to provide a full range of legal services to its clients.

Scholten Fant is presently the largest and oldest law firm in Ottawa County and services a full range of clients including individuals, businesses, units of government and charitable organizations.

Mission

Our mission at Scholten Fant is to provide excellent legal services at a fair cost in a timely manner. The firm believes that adherence to this mission is the reason the firm has enjoyed long term relationships with many clients – some for nearly fifty years.
